New Music Releases

Zac Brown Band has a new album coming out today and you are definitely in for a treat. Uncaged is Zac Brown Band’s third album and I’ll call it very eclectic. Zac Brown describes this record as a “country-Southern rock-bluegrass-reggae-jam record”. After listening to it, I’d definitely say it’s all over the map, but it just works, you know? Zac co-wrote 10 of the 11 songs, one of which was co-written with Jason Mraz. Pure and simple, if you are Zac Brown Band fans, you’ll just love this album, it’s got a little something for everyone and for every mood you could be in.

My favorites on first listen are Island Song, The Wind and my hands down favorite on the album is Lance’s Song (which is a tribute to Lance Tilton, an Atlanta based drummer that was friends with the band).

So what are y’all listening to? Will you be buying this album?

Chris Cagle has a new album out today called Back in the Saddle. This is Cagle’s first album since 2008 and his fifth studio album. He worked with Keith Stegall (Zac Brown Band, Alan Jackson) on this album and cowrote or wrote 5 of the songs off this album including Southern Girl, Something That Wild, Dance Baby, Dance, Now I know What Mama Meant, and his next single, Let There Be Cowgirls.

Something That Wild, Let There Be Cowgirls, Dance Baby Dance, and Probably Just Time are some of my instant favorites from the album. Got My Country On is his current single off the album and is already a hit, which is a good sign for the rest of the album.

If you are a country-rock fan, you’ll love this Cagle album.

What else are you listening to? I’ve still been listening to Welcome to the Fishbowl by Kenny Chesney. Are there any albums coming up that you are anticipating?

Are y’all all aware of Ryan Adams? He’s what you’d call alt-country. His “Gold” album is just phenomenal, so if you don’t have that in your collection it’s definitely a must have. Maybe you’ve heard of Tim McGraw’s “Stars Go Blue”? Yeah that was Ryan Adam’s song and it’s on the Gold album. Trust me, he’s super.

Today he comes out with his own iTunes session. It’s eight songs from his past and present albums with a couple of covers. Just really great stuff, definitely worth a listen. My particular favorite is Oh My Sweet Carolina, which by the way Zac Brown Band has covered and that’s available on iTunes as well. Both are great versions.

Other albums coming out today: Lee Brice’s Hard to Love, Kip Moore’s Up All Night, and Marty Stuart’s Nashville: Volume 1.

So are you a Ryan Adams fan? Will you be buying this iTunes Session? What else are you listening to?
