New Music Releases

Two albums you should know about come out today. The first being The Hunger Games soundtrack which features two Taylor Swift songs and one Miranda Lambert/Pistol Annies song called Run Daddy Run and if I could have downloaded that one yesterday I would have. So what I’m saying is Run Daddy Run to your iTunes store and purchase that one. I’m definitely in love with the Taylor Swift songs as well: Sound & Sound and Eyes Open.

The second album comes from 3rd runner up American Idol in the spring of 2010, Casey James. Casey definitely has a Keith Urban-esque sound, country yet has some guitar rock stuff going on as well. He co-wrote 9 of the 11 songs and is definitely an up and coming new artist in the country music biz. My favs from this album right off the bat are Let’s Don’t Call It A Night, Undone, Tough Love, Miss Your Fire.

What will you be buying today? You know what I’ll be buying *hint* Run Daddy Run *hint*.

New Music Releases

There will be lots of new albums this month but until then, I have a couple of singles that have been released that you definitely need to be aware of.

First up, my man Tim McGraw released “Better Than I Used to Be“. Let’s first just take a look at that picture above. Sigh. He’s still got it, am I right? Ok, now, on to the music…this song y’all totally reminds me of his early days. It’s definitely traditional country that sounds sort of George Strait-ish. Definitely get this one in your rotation.

Next up, Taylor Swift released a new single, “Safe & Sound” with The Civil Wars from the upcoming soundtrack to The Hunger Games. This song is a little bit of a different sound from the Taylor Swift you are used to. The iTunes summary describes it as Appalachian folk, and I think after listening to it, I totally agree.  It’s a departure from Taylor’s norm but I am definitely loving it.

So which one will you be putting on your iPod?

New Music Releases

There are no new album releases today but I do have a few new singles that have come out recently that you should DEFINITELY be aware of.

First up, Faith Hill’s comeback single, Come Home. Faith performed this song on the CMA Awards a couple of weeks ago. This was the first time she’d been on that show in five years. I’m a big Faith Hill fan and I thought she did fantastic!

Next, Taylor Swift, our current Entertainer of the Year and now Artist of the Year. She released a few singles as well as a concert CD/DVD. I gotta say, there’s not much bad you can say about Taylor Swift. She writes every note and lyric and performs and is a good role model for all the young girls that love her so. Here are some songs you definitely need to check out that she’s released lately: Ours, If This Was A Movie, Superman, Medley: Back to December/Apologize/You’re Not Sorry.

2011 CMT Music Video Awards

langstons cmt video awards
Did y’all check out the 2011 CMT Music Video Awards last night? It was on at our house! They will be replaying it over and over I’m sure, so you definitely need to check out one of the best parts of the show, the intro with Taylor Swift and Shania Twain as “Thelma & Louise”.  It was funny and fantastic and I need to watch it again!

My favorite performances were by Sugarland who sang “Stand Up” a song that will benefit tornado relief in Missouri and Alabama, so go download it today!  And also Keith Urban just because well he’s KEITH URBAN. ha! If you’ve never had a chance to see Keith Urban live, these awards show performances give you a small taste of what a fantastic show he puts on.  And my final favorite performance was Lady Antebellum’s cover of the Prince song “Kiss”.  It was totally unexpected and I loved it!

My only disappointments were that Jason Aldean & Kelly Clarkson’s duet didn’t win for Collaborative Video of the Year.  They lost out to Justin Bieber & Rascal Flatts.  I guess Bieber Fever took over that category.

I was stunned when Shania Twain slipped and fell during her entrance to present the Male Video of the Year award.  I couldn’t believe my eyes and felt so bad for her!  For having been out of the spotlight for so long and to slide right in like that…quite an entrance!

Congrats to the big winners Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift.  I feel like they have all worked very hard and are finally getting some much deserved recognition.  What do you guys think?

Here’s a full list of the winners in case you missed it!
