Don’t Get Up, We’ll Ship For Free

Today marks what is commonly considered the busiest shipping day of the year. We know you’re probably worn out from camping all night to be the first one to grab that new 60″ 1080p Plasma screen TV so you can catch every grain of dust and drop of sweat of the next PBR event from the comfort of your couch. You’re probably a little sore from battling the masses for the next great Elmo doll that they never seem to stock enough of. Or maybe you’re just too full to move after stuffing yourself with all that turkey and, well, stuffing. It’s possible that in all that chaos you completely forgot to get those jeans you get for you in laws, those new boots your promised your spouse, or maybe you just don’t quite fit into your own jeans anymore after the start of the holiday season.

Well, don’t get up. Head on over to the online store and shop our great selection of jeans, cowboy boots, and western shirts. We even have a few western gifts this year for that person that deserves something a little more unique. And the best part is, we’ll ship it for free. No minimums, required purchases, or any other hoops to jump through. Just fill your shopping cart with as little or as much western wear goodies as you want, select Ground as your shipping method, and enter freeship08 in the coupon field at checkout, or just click the link below and it will be entered for you:

PBR Bullnanza Autograph Party

Win 2 Free VIP Tickets to PBR Bullnanza at the Lazy E Arena!

PBR Bullnanza at the Lazy E Arena

PBR Bullnanza is coming back to the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Langston’s will be hosting an autograph party to help celebrate. This year’s Bullnanza features two great events. The Copenhagen Challenger Tour makes its stop at the Lazy E on Friday night, when 40 of the top PBR bull riders will compete for a chance at the Copenhagen title. After the 40 riders compete, the top 10 will come back for the exclusive Bullnanza Short Go. That’s 50 great rides making for a great night of guts and glory at the Lazy E.

On Saturday, the Lazy E will host the 4th stop on the PBR Team Shootout tour. The “Winner Take All $50,000” two man team competition features the greatest bull riders in the world. Fans will have the opportunity to see bull riding legends like current world leader Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil), three-time PBR World Champion Adriano Moraes (Cachoeira Paulista, SP, Brazil), 2002 PBR World Champion Ednei Caminhas (Presidente Alves, SP, Brazil) and 2004 World Champion Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas). The event will also air on ESPN 2, on September 7th, at 6:30 pm EST. Check out the Lazy E’s Bullnanza page for teams and details.

To help celebrate the event, Langston’s Western Wear will be hosting an autograph party featuring some of the best bull riders and bull fighters in the business (watch this space for a list of names) at our flagship store in Stockyards City on Saturday, August 23 at 11am. At the event, we’ll also be giving away 2 VIP tickets to Saturday night’s competition. So come by and see us, meet some of the toughest guys on the planet, and have a chance to get the VIP treatment to this year’s event.

My 2nd Blog by Paul Bonds

Hey, I hope things are good back in Langston’s country. The hot weather gives me the opportunity to make a decision and travel with the geese. I head to Canada in the summer.

After the PBRs and a small break, I started my rodeo run in Lindsay, Ontario for Rawhide Rodeo Co. They have had numerous bucking animal awards and put on the second largest rodeo in Canada, the Western Festival de St.Tite. I enjoy rodeoing here. The sport doesn’t have much tradition here so the people are very excited to see a bullfighter perform.

Last year we had a rodeo in St. Andre, Ontario. We bucked a new bull and threw the cowboy off early in the ride. I felt like I needed to see his “bull” qualities better so I went to fight him. He introduced himself in a typical bull manner. He put his foot in my head and pushed 5 ribs out of place. It made for a few rough weeks after that. I had a friend stitch me up with fishing line and a saddle-sewing needle. A chiropractor helped with the rib cage but I had to fight for a few weeks ‘til I could get to one. The new bull, whom I see all the time now, received a new name, “James Bond”, because of my last name. I think Rawhide Rodeo Company seen some humor in this.

It’s been a great season so far and I am looking forward to getting in to Langston’s to pick up a couple of cowboy hats. In the meantime, one more rodeo in Ontario and a PCB bull riding in St. Charles, IL on my way to protect America’s future in Farmington, NM at the National High School Finals Rodeo.

My First Guest Blog

Hi there, Langstonsblog.com readers. It’s a great pleasure to be the very first Guest Blogger in the history of the Langston’s Blog.

My name is Paul Bonds. I have been fighting bulls for eighteen years. I am 34 years old and have a fifteen-year old son named Shane. He gets to rodeo with me in the summer.

Fitness is an important part of my life. When I am not fighting, I am racing my bicycle for the Oklahoma City Velo Club. Rodeo has left me the available time to get in shape, which is extremely important for my job. I have always thought that if I take care of my body, it will take care of me.

In the winter, I fight the Super Bull Enterprise Rent-A-Car Tour PBR. This year I got to fight in the Memphis Grizzlies’ building as well as the home of the American Hockey League’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (PA) Penguins, the minor-league affiliate of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins. (Editor’s note: GREAT Season, Pens!) The latter building left me with a few bumps: One of Sonny Smith’s bulls had Dan Henricks on his back. Dan rode him for 82 points, and it was my job to get the bull’s attention after the buzzer went off. I went in a little too slow and the bull picked me up and polished the bucking shoots with my back. A broken rib wasn’t too bad to get out of it, I just needed to get back my breath, and back to work I went.

I am looking forward to being a regular guest blogger for langstonsblog.com. Check back every couple of months or so for more bull fighting stories from the road.

Sincerely, Paul Bonds

PBR On Versus

It’s going to be a long 11 months until the PBR returns to Oklahoma City. It was such a great event and we had such a great time at our autograph signing party, we’ll have to do everything we can to keep from counting the days until the 2009 PBR comes in what may be an already improved Ford Center (see below).

Thankfully, the Versus channel is set to give us our bullriding (and bullfighting) fix every week. It’s the next best thing to being there and if the video above doesn’t get you fired up, then you should probably stick to the Lifetime Network.

Coming up this weekend is the Portland Invitational, March 15, 16, and 17. Check out the Versus PBR page for times and channel listings in your area.

Autographs, YES! Snow & Ice, NO!

When it comes to Oklahoma weather, you can never be sure what you’re going to get. The forecast for this past Saturday was for freezing temperatures and icy wetness, which would have kept folks at home in front of the fireplace. But somehow the weather decided to cooperate with our PBR in-store autograph session, and the turnout was great! With top PBR bull riders like Justin McBride and Brandon Clark and top bull fighters including Frank Newsom, the event was truly memorable. With photo ops, autographs, and live music courtesy of Sons of the Sage, Saturday was a great time for all rodeo and bull riding fans. And a special congratulations to our VIP winners (you know who you are).

PBR Starts Tonight!

It’s finally here. The Copenhagen Bull Riding Challenger Tour Championship presented by Dickies hits the Ford Center in downtown Oklahoma City tonight. You won’t want to miss this year’s event with some of the best bull riders and bullfighters in the world.

There are some changes to note: A matinée session has been added on Saturday at Noon. Because of this, the Dickies bullfighters will be at our Saturday autograph session earlier that morning. The bull riders are still scheduled for 11am – 1pm, but the bull fighters will have to take off early for the matinée event. The good news is that this should give everyone easier access to both bullfighters and bull riders, so you’ll be sure to meet all the great PBR talent face to face.

And, of course, there’ll still be the big drawing for free VIP tickets to Saturday night’s event. Plus, the winner will get a limo ride to the event and dinner in bricktown! You can’t beat that. It’s going to be a rockin’ rowdy weekend in Oklahoma City!

For ticket information, visit the PBR website.

It’s Almost PBR Time!

Just a gentle reminder that the Copenhagen Bull Riding Challenger Tour Championship presented by Dickies will be kicking off the festivities on Friday, February 15th at the Ford Center in downtown Oklahoma City. The lineup has changed slightly due to injuries, but that won’t put a damper on one of the top bull riding competitions in the world.

Also be sure to stop by Langston’s flagship store in the historic Stockyards City district of Oklahoma City on Saturday, Februrary 16th from 11am to 1pm for an official PBR autograph session. We’ll also be drawing for the winner of our VIP tickets package (courtesy of Rocky Boots and Langston’s Western Wear) for Saturday night’s festivities at noon on Saturday, and you must be present to win.

So take this opportunity to check out the toughest athletes on dirt, doing what they do best, and get an autograph and the chance win some VIP tickets while you’re at it.

For ticket and event information, check the PBR’s website. Here’s a little something to whet your appetites:
