Have you guys been watching The Voice this season? I have been off and on but not enough to write recaps….which I miss! I loved those!! Anyway….there is a duo from Oklahoma on Blake’s team. Blake lives here, our stores are here in Oklahoma and the Swon Brothers are Okies. I think that means they will win…don’t you?

Looks to me like the shirt peaking out from under the denim jacket is pretty similar to this Rock and Roll Cowboy shirt.  Don’t you agree?

The Voice – Season Finale

So…what happens here if I write a recap with no western wear in it? I am pretty sure my boss would frown on that huh? This episode is a bit hard to tie into the store.

Jermain. He is my number 2 guy. He has a great voice and great style. I love the relationship he has with Blake and really, overall I like him.

Juliet. She is kind of a hot mess. My love for her isn’t as strong as it was. I loved when she did Roxanne and Cryin’ in weeks prior, but I wasn’t really feeling her this week. And what’s the deal with the ever changing hair color? Her dress for Free Bird was kind or orange and flowy and dramatic. These Ariat Women’s Outlaw 11″ Square Toe Boots – Chico Brown/Bronze Dazzle Boots are dramatic and orange…maybe? I told you. It’s a hard episode to tie into fashion. Overall, I am ok with her, but I am not voting for her.

In the other 2 performances she had a black and gold theme going on. 2 different looks but both were in that vein. These Ferrini Women’s Floral Lace Cowboy Boots would have fit right in.

Chris. Oh my god make him go away. I know, I know…he has a great voice. But he has a great opera voice. I am just not into it. The duet with Christina? That dress? Seriously you guys, I love her voice and her outside of the show, but  her bad attitude towards Tony and Adam just annoys me. As far as the dress…it was not good on her.

Tony Lucca. No lie, I downloaded his version of 99 Problems today. He is my pick. He has my vote. I loved all three songs he did last night. That Maroon 5 song is tough to sing and he did great. It can be debated by anyone and everyone, but he and Adam were completely calling Christina out with their song pick. And I loved it. She has been hard on Tony all season. She deserved it!

Ok. Light on the fashion, heavy on the drama. I can’t wait to see what happens tonight! Go Tony!!!!!

I am siting here sipping my morning coffee wondering what to write about last nights finale. Tony lost. Not only did he lose but he wasn’t even 2nd place. But…I did get to hear him sing with Jordis which I liked. Lady A was great as usual. RaeLynn was sassy and fun as usual. And all in all I think Jermain was a good pick and am happy for him. One question for you guys….why was Christina in a leotard (again) when not performing? Is this a fashion trend I am unaware of? Leotards for no reason?

My pick didn’t win…second season in a row. Maybe next season I’ll pick the winner!

You guys, I am not even sure how to recap this episode. This season is killing me. I dislike almost everyone! Why!??! It’s not that I hate them – I just don’t passionately love anyone. Let’s try for a recap…

Jamar. Meh. He’s ok. I know other people die over him, but I am just luke warm on him. He did wear a denim shirt during rehearsal and you guys know I love a good denim shirt. Check out our selection of denim shirts and let me know your fav.

Katrina. Again…meh. I mean – she ‘s ok. But I am not in love. I do want to know why the judges kept telling her to step out on her own and not try and be like Adele…yet they mad her over and made her look like Adele for the song. I mean…don’t the judges have a say in the performance look? Sometimes it seems like they do and other times not. This week they all acted like they had no clue about it. Her look was fine, but the cheesy light heart on the floor was too much.

Mathai. Is it just me or did she seem pretty peeved over the song choice? She sounded ok, but something about her voice and inflection grates on me. That gold foil dress and the rhinestones in her hair weren’t doing anything for me either. Want rhinestones? Try these Miss Me Women’s Embellished Jeans…not your hair ok? And let’s leave the gold foil as an accent on tees (like this Cruel Girl Women’s SS Burnout Tee Shirt w/Foil), not an entire dress!

CeeLo’s performance. I just can’t. He is too much for me. I can’t even comment.

James. Thank God he was sent home. The end.

Tony. Ok. I actually like Tony Lucca. He was my fav of the night. Although…him singing Brittany wasn’t original. The band Travis did a version of that song years ago. I think they should have picked a Christina song for him to do instead. But that said, I loved it and I do kind of love him.

Cheesa. Yeah..I am still not feeling Cheesa. I love that she wears denim jackets because they are a classic favorite of mine (try this Lucky Brand Women’s Sabrina Denim Jacket) but I am not seeing the appeal of her as a singer.

Pip. Oh Pip. He kind of grew on me this week. I love the bow tie, but I also liked seeing a new look. One of his rehearsal looks was a pink pinstripe. I saw several shirts closer to it than this Pendleton Men’s Long Sleeve Vintage Fit Madras Epic Shirt, but this one just seemed so “Pip” to me. I think it would be great on him. Sadly he went home, right when I was starting to like him.

Adam on drums – good. With Tony singing and playing guitar – good. Was the rest of the team up there? I didn’t even notice.

Juliet. She is the front runner of the people from last night. But WINGS?????? What the?!?!?! Blake saying it reminded me of duck hunting season was classic. She rocked it out, but I think the wings kid of stiffed her. I wish she had been able to move around more. That song was perfect for her. I didn’t like the lighter hair on her, better darker in my opinion.

Ok. Who goes home tonight!?!?

Team CeeLo – Cheesa or Jamar?!?! I have no idea. Not even a guess. But my hope is that Jamar stays.I didn’t list Juliet because we know she will stay. If America doesn’t save her, CeeLo will.

Team Adam – Again, I am not sure. My hope is that if America doesn’t save Tony, Adam will. So Katrina or Mathai. I vote for Katrina to stay.

Ok…break in the action. I am headed to an OKC Thunder game tonight but I will Tivo the show and update this post before I hit publish in the morning! Let’s hope my picks are right!

America saved Tony (yay!) and Jamar (surprised me, but good!) After Jamar was saved, I knew Juliet would be who Cee Lo saved. No need to even see the performances. She was going to be his pick. Then between Katrina and Mathai….good pick by Adam. She did great and actually convinced me to be a fan of her’s now. What did you guys think? Good picks?

Instant Elimination!?!? Wow.

Up first is our girl RaeLynn. Let me warn you here, I am pretty sure this recap is going to start strong and finish snarkey. So hold on. RaeLynn did great. She is adorable and country and sweet and saucy and strong and all the things a budding country artist should be. In the rehearsal scene I paused my DVR, grabbed my iPad and pulled up these….

In the rehearsal scenes Christina had on a snap shirt that was similar to this Rough Stock Women’s Long Sleeve Western Plaid Snap Shirt. Oh wait…what? That was a dress!!??! Are you sure? It looked like a shirt and she just forgot pants. Anyway…

Jesse I thought had a good performance. I am not a huge Jesse fan, but I think he is one of the better ones on her team. And he was eliminated. What!?!? I was shocked. So was Adam, did you see his face?

Ok, so that leaves Ashley, Chris and Lindsey. Really?? Ashley is growing on me. I think she is growing as an artist and I like her more and more each week. She had a long flowy cardigan on during rehearsal. Her’s was sleeveless, but it was similar in feel to this Allison Brittney Women’s 3/4 Sleeve Flyaway Cardigan.

Ashley is now my pick from Team Christina. I, along with the other judges, am starting to see why Christina picked her. Chris? I am just not feeling him. I get the opera thing, but I just am not into him. And I know America loves and will save Lindsey tonight, but I am not feeling her either. How does tonight work? 2 get saved? One by America and one after a last ditch performance? I think Chris will go home, America will save Lindsey and Christina will save Ashley. Anyway, fashion…Lindsey wore white pants in the performance…well, they were white with a huge black stripe on the side. You could take some fabric paint to these Lucky Brand Women’s Colorful Sofia Capri jeans if you wanted…or just leave them plain white…they are very cute and super comfy. I just picked up a pair last week. I love them.

Ok, back to team Blake. I am not sure I can talk about Jordis. I love her. I have loved her since she was on Rockstar INXS. I wanted her to win. I am super sad that Blake sent her packing. She had depth and feeling and it showed when she sang. Clearly Adam didn’t agree with Blake either. Did you see him shaking his head!?! Me too Adam. Meee toooo. One thing about her performance…the set? What the? I guess he song was about abuse, I get that, but the bed frame with no mattress and the over turned chair? It was just odd.

Who else is on Team Blake, we talked about RaeLynn…so there is Erin and Jermaine. Erin is going home. I like her. I think her singing during rehearsal was a bit better than the show, but overall I like her. That yellow dress though? That was terrible. Awful. Jermaine did well. I loved that CeeLo said he looked sharp. He did look sharp, but coming from the man wearing the “Crime Scene” tee…I’m not sure it meant that much.

Do we need to talk about the judges performances? Blake’s team was adorable. Adam and Maroon 5 were great. That’s it right? Oh yea….Christina. I just can’t get away without talking about it huh? Ok, so the cowboy thing with Blake at the beginning was great. I love to see her engaging and joking with the judges since she can kind of be the odd man out sometimes. And her voice. She can belt it out like no other. I really do love her. But that outfit!??! She has a good body still, and I love to see her rock and flaunt it – but that was too much. It wasn’t flattering. If the bottom had even just been boy shorts, or a really short skirt it would have been better, but the full leotard was just not working, not anymore. Sorry – I just have to say it. Otherwise you guys would think I was blind.

So there it is. The recap. A bit light on fashion this week…but made up for with a great deal on a rocking pair of Corral boots! I will be back to update with tonight’s’ results before I hit publish for Wed….

Ok. I am back. I’m needing a second cup of coffee today to figure out this show. America saved Jermaine. I totally get that, but Chris? I don’t get that. Then Christina saved Lindsey…I kind of get that? And Blake saved Erin?? My rational on them sending Ashley and RaeLynn home is that they are young and the coaches think they can make it without the help of the show?? I just don’t know.

By the way, did you see Christina in stripes?!?! I know I know. I keep yelling that stripes are in, but they are! Striped shirts. Get one!

The Voice

Time once again to look at Tuesday’s episode of The Voice from a fashion-y perspective.

Team CeeLo:

In both rehearsals and the performance Wade was wearing a denim jacket. This Wrangler Men’s Retro Western Denim Jacket is on sale for $32.98 if you want to have the look for yourself.

They sang True Colors by Cindy Lauper. I love that song. Personally, I like Wade better,but I agree that he kind of phoned the performance in. James did better, but he kind of bugs me. Regardless of my opinion, he won the battle.

The second CeeLo team battle was Justin and Tony. This one was a tough one. In one scene Justin wore a button front henley type shirt under another shirt. It reminded me of this Derek Heart Women’s Heart Racer Back Tank Top that we have. Inspiration can cross genders – I can be inspired by a man’s look and then create a feminine version. I’d wear this top under a button up with the sleeves rolled up and some cut offs.

Sometimes classically trained artist who work on Broadway get too stylized for me, but honestly Tony was amazing. Personally I like the grit in Justin’s voice better….I swear – I had notes that said his voice was “dirty and gritty” and then a minute later Adam had the same comment. Adam and I, we are on the same page! But I see why Tony won.

Other random thoughts on this team…CeeLo cried more times than I can count in this episode, there are a lot of military jackets on this show (across the board, not just on this team)….oh…and did you read that CeeLo’s cat is a RENTAL?

Team Christina:

Is it just me or was the girl from The Line kind of snarky on this episode? She was so unwilling to try a new song and step outside her comfort zone. I thought calling them out as a wedding band was very accurate. But, I will say that at the very end of the performance she came through and sounded good and kind of got into it. I loved that Moses wanted to step outside his genre and try something new.

In rehearsals she (the girl from The Line whose name I cannot find) wore skinny jeans cuffed. I love this look. Try cuffing these Rock and Roll Cowgirl Women’s Low Rise Skinny Jeans with Nail Head Flap Pockets or any of our skinny jeans for a similar look.

In the performance both of them had some type of flocking going on on their clothes. I wasn’t feeling either look. BUT they both had good boots. From what I could see his were basic brown, I think similar to these Justin Stampede Men’s Cattleman Rawhide Cowboy Boots. Honestly I couldn’t see hers, but I saw a bit of studding I think and that made me hope/wish they were these amazing Stud Rocker Boots by Lane. They weren’t I don’t think, but they should have been.

It was no surprise that Moses wore a Member’s Only jacket. On this show it’s either a military jacket or a member’s only one. Vocally The Line may have had it, but overall Moses was more fun. I am glad he won. I think if The Line added some pain and angst into their music and stopped being all grins and smiles, they would be great.

Next up – Team Blake:

Jordan. Man, I thought he really gave it his all. That was a tough song for him and he tried. As far as his fashion…he sported a sherpa lined coat like this Levi’s ® Men’s Standard Sherpa Trucker Jacket and during the performance he rocked classic black. He’s so young and sweet, next time he plays live I’d like to see him amp up his style with am embroidered shirt. This Panhandle Slim Men’s Long Sleeve Retro Snap Western Shirt with Barbed Wire Embroidery would be a good pick for him.

Naia took the win. It kind of shocked me. Usually Blake likes a project – so I thought maybe he’d pick Jordan. But I was wrong. During rehearsals Naia layered a flowy vest over a maxi dress. Very cool casual look. This Ariat Women’s Lizzie Vest would layer great over spring dresses.

Last up, Team Adam:

Nicolle rocked a crochet type sweater in one scene that I loved. This Lucky Brand Women’s Natalie Tunic Top is similar in a lot of ways, but a long sleeve version. Both this top and her amazing pink dress were begging to be paired with cowboy boots. I think for the performance these Ariat Women’s Presidio Cowboy Boots would have been funky and cool paired with her sparkly pink dress.

I liked Nicolle better, but I see why they picked Mathai.

Karla. Oh Karla. She grew on me. But her denim shirt with jeans look in the first scene killed me. I love a good denim shirt, but the look was off. Maybe paired with white or black jeans it would have been better. I’m glad Adam changed the song so they each had a fighting chance. Sometimes I think the song pick totally sways to battle. Adam telling Karla to release Bertha, the big girl inside of her was classic. I was laughing out loud at that one. I am going to cross gender lines again for a second, the striped shirt Orlando wore reminded me of these new Derek Heart Women’s Stripe Tees.

What can I say about the performance. Bertha wasn’t there for me. I didn’t hear the big sound, but I guess I was wrong. She got the win and Orlando went home.

I don’t have a full recap…sorry. The Super Bowl wore me out! But I did have a few things catch my eye. First, miss Juliet on Team Cee Lo. Was this Ariat Studded Vest made to be rocked by her or what??

Chris, Jesse and Tony Lucca (I can’t just say Tony, his name seem to just fit better with first and last together, you know?) These guys will be fun to watch.I am pretty sure we can find some boot/jean/shirt combos to suit each of them.

Raelynn…..how did I miss her? Seriously…I must have missed a few minutes of the show??! Did you guys see her? The website says she is “Dolly Parton-loving, horse-riding, “Legally Blonde”-watching country pop artist” HOW DID I MISS HER? Based on the photos on the NBS site and her bio, I am going to guess these are right up her ally.

Did you guys watch The Voice last night? I am kind of on the fence about some of the decisions. I would have picked Tarralyn over Frenchie I think. And I know I would have picked Tyler over Patrick. I trust Blake and Reba…but I am not too sure about that decision. How about you? I think Patrick can sing a great Country tune…but I thought Tyler was interesting and had a great range of vocals. Would have been cool to see how Reba and Blake would have worked with him. Anyway, enough of my griping. I did agree with the other two picks, Vicci and Casey.

I did have a few fashion questions…like the puffy tail thing that Niki wore? I am not too sure about that. Patrick sounded great, but I think we could up his style vibe. How abouy this shirt for his next performance?

I think the lighter color would look great against the darker stage and background, and the detailing would look good on close ups. The contrast of the sleeves is some added interest to set the shirt apart and make it different. Rock and Roll Cowboy Men’s Long Sleeve Dip Dyed Snap Shirt with Embroidery – Dark Grey

Vicci needs to rock these Dingo boots for her next performance…I think they totally fit her style.
