Have you heard of Pistol Annies? They are the new band consisting of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley. They debuted their new single “Hell on Heels” at the ACM Girls Night Out back in April. Though the entire album isn’t out yet, I can’t wait for it based on this one single alone! Did y’all check out the 2011 CMT Music Video Awards last night? It was on at our house! They will be replaying it over and over I’m sure, so you definitely need to check out one of the best parts of the show, the intro with Taylor Swift and Shania Twain as “Thelma & Louise”. It was funny and fantastic and I need to watch it again!
My favorite performances were by Sugarland who sang “Stand Up” a song that will benefit tornado relief in Missouri and Alabama, so go download it today! And also Keith Urban just because well he’s KEITH URBAN. ha! If you’ve never had a chance to see Keith Urban live, these awards show performances give you a small taste of what a fantastic show he puts on. And my final favorite performance was Lady Antebellum’s cover of the Prince song “Kiss”. It was totally unexpected and I loved it!
My only disappointments were that Jason Aldean & Kelly Clarkson’s duet didn’t win for Collaborative Video of the Year. They lost out to Justin Bieber & Rascal Flatts. I guess Bieber Fever took over that category.
I was stunned when Shania Twain slipped and fell during her entrance to present the Male Video of the Year award. I couldn’t believe my eyes and felt so bad for her! For having been out of the spotlight for so long and to slide right in like that…quite an entrance!
Congrats to the big winners Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift. I feel like they have all worked very hard and are finally getting some much deserved recognition. What do you guys think?

I know this is relatively new album but I think this is definitely one of Miranda Lambert’s best albums and all the awards she has won have proved that. Definitely check out “Virginia Bluebell”, “Heart Like Mine”, and my favorite “Love Song”.

The March issue of Distinctly Oklahoma has in it a great article on Miranda Lambert. It talks about her song writing ability, her determination as an artist, and of course her fiance Blake Shelton. In the article there are a few pictures of her from a recent show. In them she is wearing dark rinsed jeans with a black button down shirt tucked into them, set apart by a studded belt. The look is classic and clean and I love it.
