Feathers

I have seen a lot of feathers popping up all over the place. They are such a natural accessory…after all, back in the day they were used as embellishments on clothing and headdresses.

I love these Montana Silversmiths New Classics Hawk Feather Dangle Earrings. They have the detail and beauty of a feather, but are classic and wearable.

Vendor Spotlight – Minnetonka

I don’t know about you, but I feel like Minnetonka was everywhere this Fall and Winter. In a good way! I saw tons of cute outfits based around mocs and booties and don’t get me started on the kids mocs. I think they were, and are, the go to gift for newborns.

Minnetonka was founded back in 1946 and has been going strong since then. There are so many things to love about the company. Much like Langston’s, they are a family business. I love seeing that they are in their 4th generation of family running their operations. If you watch the great video on their site, they talk about how the mocs are all hand crafted, and how they are a piece of Americana.

They may be trendy at times, but they do not chase trends. They are a classic. One that will come back into style again and again. Another thing that is always said about Minnetonka is how comfortable they are. And they are! if you ever wanted to leave your house in slippers, now is your chance!

I love my classic mocs, but my go to this winter has been these Calf Hi Tan Suede Fringe Boots.

What about you? Which style do you want as your personal bit of Americana? Your handcrafted bit of comfort?

Baby Boots

I am a huge fan of booties for babies. I love all three Minnetonka infant boots as gifts..

Double Fringe Side Zip Bootie in pink, brown or taupe. The pink in this style are my pick for a gift for girls.

The Velcro Back Flap Suede in brown or pink.

The Velcro Front Strap Bootie in pink, red or brown. These are my favorite style for boys. Love the brown.

So you know my Minnetonka love…but the next little baby girl gift I have to buy….I might stray. These Roper Infant Boots might not be exactly practical at least not until the baby is walking….but HOW CUTE!

Feathers

I am in love with feathers! The look, the whimsy, the colors – all of it. My love started with these Corral boots and soon turned to this Rock and Roll Cowgirl Shirt.

The abstract feather print on this dolman blouse would look amazing with black jeggings and boots. The top layer is 100% polyester and the tank top layered underneath is jersey knit. The 3/4-length dolman sleeves and scoop neckline are easily dressed up or down.

Speaking of feathers….why is the Miss Me sweater not in my closet!?!?

And if it does end up in my closet, it will be worn with these Minnetonka booties. For sure.

Yep, I think I am in full feather obsession over here. How about you?

October Style Watch

People Magazine also has an October Style Watch issue. I saw 2 things in it that made me smile…Levi’s, Levi’s and more Levi’s….and some Minnetonkas. Over and over in their jean guide they listed Levi’s jeans as a great value, a great fit and an overall great jean.

Both these brands also have great offerings for the men…and the kiddos!

Speaking of Minnetonka…check our facebook page for a giveaway link!!

Wear It: Blown Away

Have you seen the latest Carrie Underwood video, Blown Away? It’s seriously movie-like. It’s Carrie Underwood’s version of The Wizard of Oz…yellow brick road and all! Check it out:

Ok, I do agree the video is a bit of a downer, but at the same time it’s stunning visually. As always Carrie’s style is right on target, from her cute sundress at the beginning of the video to the shirt and jeans she wears the rest of the time. I couldn’t love her shirt and jeans outfit more. The gingham shirt, the vest, the skinny jeans and boots. Let’s do this the Langston’s way, shall we?

Wrangler Women’s Long Sleeve Plaid Button Down Shirt
Adiktd Women’s Slub Jersey Vest with Studs – Grey
Lucky Brand Women’s Charlie Skinny Jeans – Dark Bacall
Minnetonka Moccasins – Women’s Hardsole Double Leather Bottom Knee Hi Fringe Boots

So what you do you think? This outfit is a winner, is it not?

What I wore…

For today, I am going to limit this to my boots. I will show you my selection of jeans and tops another day! Ok…so boots. I have 5 pairs of boots, plus some.

Ariat Shada 10″ Cowboy Boot – This is my newest boot. I love the shorter height. I pair it with chunky knit socks and wear them over leggings and jeggings. I also like wearing them under boot cut jeans. The shorter shaft makes them really comfortable and they rub less on my calves than some other boots. I have to name these the most versatile boot in my closet.

Dan Post Maria 13″ Boot -Mine are many years old – so this link is not exact, but close. Mine are Dan Post. They are my only black boots and my first pair. I don’t wear them as much anymore, but being that they were my first, they will always hold a place in my heart!

Corral Women’s Stitched Boots – Desert Red – Who knew red could be so versatile?!? I love these. They are probably my #2 boot as far as how often I wear them.

Lane Boots – Old Mexico – These are fun for so many reasons. They are great in Spring and Summer with a white skirt or dress. Very Boho hippie in a way that I love. And they are Thunder colors so I can wear them to OKC Thunder games in the Fall and Winter and show the team some love.

Dan Post Women’s Taylor 12″ Boot – I wear my tall brown ones much the same ways as I do my short ones – over jeggings, under boot cut jeans – these go with anything and everything.

Not pictured…

Minnetonka Moccasin Knee High Fringe Boots – These are for those days you need comfortable sassy…I pair them with a cozy white sweater and black leggings. Comfort with attitude.

Minnetonka Moccasin Thunderbird Beaded Moc – I just got my first pair of Moc and am wearing them today. Talk about comfort! And the beading gives just the right amount of detail. I like these with jeans and a plain white or black tee.

Yea…ok….so I have a bit of a shoe problem. This doesn’t even take into account my heels and ballet flats!

Wear It: Give

LeAnn Rimes has a new video out called “Give”. It’s a powerful ballad with a powerful message. LeAnn’s outfit is very soft and subtle, allowing the message of the song to shine through. This outfit also looks decidedly COMFORTABLE y’all! Check it out:

I’m sorta in love with this outfit now even thought it’s muted greys and tans. Here’s how I’d do it Langston’s style:

Petrol Women’s Afternoon Tea Top – Grey
Southern Thread Women’s Bobbie Skinny Fit Stretch Jeans
Minnetonka Moccasins – Women’s Calf Hi Tan Suede Fringe Boots
Cindy Smith Women’s 3 Strand Turquoise Necklace and Earring Set

Honestly, I want to put all these items in my cart right now and hit CHECKOUT. The top is flowy and forgiving and those moccasins you know have got to be like wearing slippers all day but you will look so darn cute doing it!

What do y’all think? Will you be rocking this look of LeAnn’s? Tell us! We want to know!

BOHO for less

Looking to try the BoHo look you see Fergie and Joy Bryant rocking in the November Style Watch issue of People? Try the Minnetonka Suede fringed boots. At under $100 (only $75.97) they are a great way to get that funky look.  The pic of Joy in People shows her in these exact boots only in black. Pair these boots with skinny jeans – like these Levi’s 518s (for under $30!) and a floral top and you are ready to head out to lunch or the mall for some shopping – really anywhere. This look is easy to wear and works in all types of setting.

The Western Wardrobe Destination

Southern Living recently sent two of its editors to the Oklahoma National Stockyards in search of western wear and they of course ended up at Langston’s! They recommended the store as a great place for boots – giving us a 3 horseshoe rating (the highest given). The article sites the many Ariat riding boots for women that we carry, Minnetonka moccasins, Justin and Tony Lama boots as well as our John Deere Boots – even available for babies!

We also had a rating of 3 horseshoes for Shirts, Belts and Jeans. They mention the hand-tooled leather purses, sequined belts we carry in store, as well as the Montana Silversmith belt buckles, Panhandle Slim shirts, Cruel Girl and Wrangler Jeans we carry both online and in stores.

No western look is complete without a hat – and we offer a wide range to choose from. So if you are in the OKC area, please stop by our Historic location in the Oklahoma National Stockyards (click here for directions) and get outfitted by our knowledgeable staff. Elsewhere in Oklahoma, please visit us at I-240 and Shields Blvd, or in Midwest City at 15th and Midwest Blvd. or in Yukon at 1105 Garth Brooks Blvd.
