Style Watch

I always check out the “Style Watch” issue of People Magazine….well, truth be told I pick up pretty much all the style watch issues of magazines! I have to know what’s hot right?

Well, in 2013 stripes are still a must have. Good thing since my closet is loaded with them.

This Derek Heart tee is a great way to inject stripes into your wardrobe without breaking the bank. It comes in 5 colors and checks in at under $20. Under a cardigan or blazer it is perfect for work this winter. Come Spring you can wear it with capris and shorts. Your cost per wear on this tee will be down in the pennies you will wear it so often.

Florals are big still as well. We are seeing them on everything from denim to jackets to tees and of course…Boots!!

These Lane Bella Boots are a great floral to add to your rotation. Pair them with skirts and dresses this summer, and with colored jeans this winter. Yep, colored denim is still on trend as well. I think the muted colors in this boot would look amazing with these silver/grey jeggings from Levi’s.

Our buyers are at Market this week in Denver. I can’t wait to see what they pick up. Follow us on Instagram (@langstons) and I will hopefully be posting some preview pics! Light blue jeans and pink everything seem to be on the horizon for Spring….we will be on the look out to see what we can find!

Wear It: Ho Hey

Have y’all heard of The Lumineers? I actually hadn’t heard of them. I saw their video for Ho Hey and then proceeded to watch it several more times because I LOVE the song. It’s catchy yo! If you are of the Ryan Adams-ish type of Alt Country you should definitely take a listen. Before I let you check out the video, here’s a little background on the the band if you are unfamiliar…via CMT.com:

The Lumineers, a folk-rock trio out of Denver, Colorado, deliver an acoustic-based Americana sound that touches a lot of stylistic bases, from folk to gospel to heartland rock and the narrative end of country, all with interesting rhythmic twists and turns. The band had its beginnings in 2002 when Jeremiah Fraites lost his 19-year-old brother Josh to a drug overdose. Fraites and his brother’s best friend, Wesley Schultz, turned to music to deal with the sorrow of it, and were soon writing songs and gigging together in the New York area as a duo. After relocating to Denver, the pair met classically trained multi-instrumentalist Neyla Pekarek after placing a Craigslist ad for a cellist, and things clicked for the trio, who began playing open mikes at the Meadowlark, a basement club where local songwriters gathered, developing a fresh sound that defies tight classification, although front porch Americana might cover it

Without further ado, here’s the video…and make sure you check out Neyla’s dress, I could not love it more!

See what I mean?! Catchy, yes? Ok, back to the fashion aspect and Neyla’s dress–VERY CUTE! Here’s how I’d do it up Langston’s style.

Stetson Women’s Sleeveless Antique Floral Print Dress
Lane Boots Women’s ‘Old Mexico’ Cowboy Boots – Brown

What do you think? Are you a new fan of The Lumineers like I am? And how bout that dress? And I gotta say, those boots could not match that dress more perfectly if I do say so myself!

Texas Women- Episode 5

In one of the very first scenes this week Brooke has on some red, black and white boots. They instantly made me think of these Lane ‘Margaret’ Cowboy Boots. Focusing on the boots helped me to glaze over during the um…”advice” talk. I am all for girl talk, but nationally televised girl talk? Let’s just say I was glad I wasn’t watching this weeks show with my dad or grandma or anyone!

Speaking of miss Brooke…..check back here tomorrow. We teamed up with her for a fun giveaway!!!!

As for the rest of the episode, Brooke and Jason enjoyed their new advice and gifts. So that’s good. The yoga vs karate scene was cracking me up. Love how CMT kept going back and forth between the two. You have to love that couple. They have lots of spunk and character.

The Hannah, Anna, Ali stuff was odd. I totally get Anna’s point that Hannah is a model and needs to take jobs…but you don’t see one model typically posing for 2 competing brands. So I do think it was odd. That said, she was gorgeous in that headdress! You know I am all about loose associations on here, what can I say, I try. Anyway, Hannah is Choctaw, this shirt has an Aztec print…yea, not even close. But check out this Wrangler Women’s Aztec Print Tank Top anyway.

Anna ended up doing really well with the modeling. It took her a while to get into it, but I think that is to be expected. Can’t wait to see the flip flops she designed. I had no idea about her stroke. How scary! Until her flip flops come out, check out these Justin Women’s Misty Calf Hair Flip Flops with Three Rhinestone Conchos.

Cory was so sweet helping Ali prepare for her new job. He is so level headed and has great advice. I loved how he helped Ali deal with the Hannah thing. He didn’t feed into it and make it bigger, but he also didn’t just dismiss her feelings. He is a good one Ali. Keep him around! I also loved that Ali wanted to know her job. She wasn’t willing to just fake it. When she got advice from the producer about where to stand and what to do, she said “I’ll make it better next time.” She is a classy girl. As far as fashion, I think I spied some embellished pockets when she was outside talking to the girls. These Rock and Roll Cowgirl Women’s Low Rise Skinny Jeans with Nail Head Flaps are a close match.

And I am pretty sure I noticed some Cinch Black Label Relaxed Fit Jeans on Cory.

That’s the recap for this week. I am posting today because tomorrow is GIVEAWAY DAY! Check back here for the what and how.

The Voice

Ok folks, I’m filling in for Deb this week on The Voice recap. Are you ready?! This was our first LIVE show. In this two hour episode we heard each member of Team Blake and Team Christina sing. Then America votes and saves 3 members. Of the 3 remaining, Christina and Blake must save ONE person, sending two people home from each team.

I’d like to first go over the judges, before we get to the singers. Blake was handsome as usual. Adam had a buzz-ish hair cut that looks SUPER HOT, if I do say so myself. Cee Lo, I don’t even know what to say, I think Adam said it best in his tweet here. Christina looked pretty conservative this episode. She’s slimmed down since the battle rounds and in one segment was wearing a striped outfit. Well GET YOUR STRIPES right here y’all!

Derek Heart Women's Navy Stripe Tee Shirt - $14.97

Ok, let’s move on to Team Blake: Jermaine Paul, RaeLynn, Charlotte Sometimes, Naia Kete, Erin Willett, and Jordis Unga. Now y’all may disagree with me, but my top 3 were RaeLynn, Jordis Unga and Erin Willett. All three of these ladies rocked it. I do want to cover RaeLynn’s style, girl is SPUNKY. These items seem pretty RaeLynn to me:

Jordis also seems to have a studs and sequins thing going on that I’m totally loving. She was also sporting a fitted jacket during her performance. Here’s a few things I’d pick out for her.

Team Christina consisted of Ashley De La Rosa, Chris Mann, Jesse Campbell, Moses Stone, Lindsay Pavao, and Sera Hill. My heart is definitely with Team Blake, but I do have some favs on Team Christina. My picks from the performances are Lindsey Pavao, Ashley De La Rosa, Jesse Campbell. In addition to her singing, I’m loving Ashley De La Rosa’s outfit! These boots would be a great way to begin duplicating that outfit:

Ok, now I would like to know who your favorites were from each team!!!

UPDATE: From Team Blake, the following are moving on to the next round: Erin Willett (America Saved), Jordis Unga (Blake Saved), RaeLynn (America Saved), Jermaine Paul (America Saved). From Team Christina, the following are moving on to the next round: Chris Mann (America Saved), Lindsay Pavao (America Saved), Jesse Campbell(America Saved), Ashley De La Rosa (Christina Saved).

Did everybody you want move on to the next round? Tell us!!

What I wore…

For today, I am going to limit this to my boots. I will show you my selection of jeans and tops another day! Ok…so boots. I have 5 pairs of boots, plus some.

Ariat Shada 10″ Cowboy Boot – This is my newest boot. I love the shorter height. I pair it with chunky knit socks and wear them over leggings and jeggings. I also like wearing them under boot cut jeans. The shorter shaft makes them really comfortable and they rub less on my calves than some other boots. I have to name these the most versatile boot in my closet.

Dan Post Maria 13″ Boot -Mine are many years old – so this link is not exact, but close. Mine are Dan Post. They are my only black boots and my first pair. I don’t wear them as much anymore, but being that they were my first, they will always hold a place in my heart!

Corral Women’s Stitched Boots – Desert Red – Who knew red could be so versatile?!? I love these. They are probably my #2 boot as far as how often I wear them.

Lane Boots – Old Mexico – These are fun for so many reasons. They are great in Spring and Summer with a white skirt or dress. Very Boho hippie in a way that I love. And they are Thunder colors so I can wear them to OKC Thunder games in the Fall and Winter and show the team some love.

Dan Post Women’s Taylor 12″ Boot – I wear my tall brown ones much the same ways as I do my short ones – over jeggings, under boot cut jeans – these go with anything and everything.

Not pictured…

Minnetonka Moccasin Knee High Fringe Boots – These are for those days you need comfortable sassy…I pair them with a cozy white sweater and black leggings. Comfort with attitude.

Minnetonka Moccasin Thunderbird Beaded Moc – I just got my first pair of Moc and am wearing them today. Talk about comfort! And the beading gives just the right amount of detail. I like these with jeans and a plain white or black tee.

Yea…ok….so I have a bit of a shoe problem. This doesn’t even take into account my heels and ballet flats!

Employee Pick

This week our pick is from Donna. Can anyone read the name Donna without singing the Richie Valens song in their head? I know I can’t. Donna’s pick starts with the jeans. “The jeans are gorgeous. I love the wash and the stitching on the back pockets.” The jeans are Cruel Girl Women’s Grace Low Rise Skinny Jeans – Dark Stonewash. They featuring a dark stonewash, permanganate, hand sanding, whiskers, tacking, tint, chevrons, 11.25 Oz stretch denim skinny leg, and a low rise. Seriously, what else could you want or need in a jean?

Paired with the Cruel Girl jeans, this Cruel Girl Women’s Long Sleeve Print Crew Neck T-Shirt – Cream. It is long sleeve, crew neck, and has rhinestone accents all over. It is 50% cotton making it soft and 50% polyester to make it last. Donna said, “I picked the shirts because its nice and casual.”

As for the details, a  Western Charm Women’s Charm Necklace – Silver Tone and Lane Boots Women’s ‘Wild Ginger’ Cowboy Boots – Black. “I picked the necklace because it was simple and casual like the shirt.” And as far as the boots…. “The boots are beautiful.” Enough said.

Thanks Donna.

Employee Pick – Lindsey

Ok…this outfit is completely ready to wear. Where? Anywhere. The fair is here in OKC right now and this would easily work for a night there, but it would also be a great pick for movie night, date night or a casual work look. I love Lindsey’s picks.

Lindsey said that she wanted to go with a darker denim to draw your eyes to the boots and top. For that same reason she went with simple silver hoop earrings. I think a lot of outfits need attention getting bling, but I agree with Lindsey that the star of the show here is the top. As far as the denim, dark is usually my go to. I like how it can be both dressy and casual depending on what you pair it with. Lucky Brand Lola jeans are one of my favs. I like the darker color and the boot cut fit.

As far as the top, Lindsey said “I love the shimmery grey lace and the cut on the neckline.” This Ariat top is flattering on lots of different builds and is the perfect cool tone color for Fall and Winter. Paired with it are Wild Ginger Lane Boots. Lindsey loved “the pattern on the boots and that they black and grey go with the top.”

What do you think? Is this a look you could and would rock? Where would you wear it?

Wear It: We Owned The Night

As we told you earlier in the week, Lady Antebellum has a new album out and we thought we’d feature one of their videos in our Wear It series. I’m going to focus specifically on Hillary Scott’s outfit in this video.

She’s wearing a blouse-y type of top with a 3/4 length sleeve and at a certain point in the video falls off her shoulder a bit, along with skinny jeans. Here’s how I’d do it, Langston’s style:

Ariat Women’s Cerres Lace Shirred Top – Wine Berry
Levi’s 524 Women’s Skinny Jeans – Black Pressed
Lane Boots Women’s ‘Wild Ginger’ Cowboy Boots – Black

I love the length of the sleeve on this Ariat top and definitely love the color of it. I’d go with black jeans and these Lane Boots…that stitching pulls the top and jeans together perfectly.

So tell me, are you a fan of Hillary Scott’s style?
