New Music Releases

Two new albums out today by Jason Aldean and Jamey Johnson.

Jason Aldean’s Night Train is his fifth album and is definitely a southern rock album. This is Aldean’s follow up to My Kinda Party which was a huge success for him and basically put him on the map as a big time artist. You’ll find some familiar guys on “The Only Way I Know” when Aldean sings with Luke Bryan and Eric Church. Check that one out along with “1994″ and “Take a Little Ride”.

Jamey Johnson’s Living for a Song is a Tribute to Hank Cochran. This is Johnson’s follow up to The Guitar Song in 2010. We heard a little bit of Johnson’s love for Cochran on The Guitar Song with “Set ‘Em Up Joe”. Living for a Song has a lot of duets, so many that I can’t even list them all, though I’ll give you some highlights: George Strait, Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Lee Ann Womack, Ray Price, Asleep at the Wheel and more! Definitely check out The Eagle, which is the duet with George Strait.

Love and Theft have a new self-titled album out today. If you haven’t heard of Love and Theft, they are a duo made up of Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson. They have a single out right now called “Angel Eyes” and it’s currently in the Top 10 on country radio. In regards to their new album this is what they’ve said:

“This record represents the way we sound live,” says Stephen. Eric adds, “You get the warmth and the emotion of the players vibing together in the room. We feel like we have made the record we’ve always wanted to make and we can’t wait to find out what people think about it.”

These guys sound great together and have opened for a ton of big names like Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, and Jason Aldean. Definitely my favorites upon first listen are Amen, Town Drunk, If You Ever Get Lonely.

Go check them out!

Lionel Richie comes out with a new album today called Tuskegee. It’s all his biggest hits made into duets with our favorite country singers. I’m going to give you thirteen reasons to buy this album: Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker, Little Big Town, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Jennifer Nettles, Tim McGraw, Shania Twain, Billy Currington, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffett. You guys this album is AWESOME! And if you don’t like Lionel Richie songs, you are a damn liar! At least go listen to some snippets on iTunes.

You Are (w/Blake Shelton), Stuck On You (w/Darius Rucker, Sail On (w/Tim McGraw), and Hello (w/ Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles) are my favs for sure, right off the bat. And Hello even gave me goosebumps!

Also, on iTunes there is a sneak peek you can watch of the “making of” the album. Please go watch this, it shows a snippet of Blake Shelton being pure Blake Shelton. Gotta love it!

So what do y’all think? Is this a winner for Lionel Richie? What else are y’all listening to these days?

Wear It: Dirt Road Anthem

We had a request not too long ago for some Jason Aldean on our Wear It series. I decided to spotlight the Dirt Road Anthem video because Jason’s outfit is pretty casual and anyone can pull it off. Here’s the video:

You can’t go wrong with a western snap shirt, jeans and boots right? Here’s how I’d do that outfit the Langston’s way:

Pendleton Men’s Short Sleeve Plaid Snap Shirt – Blue

Rock and Roll Cowboy Men’s Relaxed Fit Boot Cut Double Barrel Jeans with Multi Embroidery

Ariat Men’s Nitro Boots – Gulch Tan/Quartz

If you just add a few accessories like a straw hat and a leather wrist band you will be all set with the classic Jason Aldean outfit. And you can get this same look with different plaid shirts and different jeans that are even more beat up. It just depends on how casual you want to go and what color scheme you are after. Check out some more of our plaid snap shirts here.

What do you say? Would you Wear it??

2011 CMT Music Video Awards

langstons cmt video awards
Did y’all check out the 2011 CMT Music Video Awards last night? It was on at our house! They will be replaying it over and over I’m sure, so you definitely need to check out one of the best parts of the show, the intro with Taylor Swift and Shania Twain as “Thelma & Louise”.  It was funny and fantastic and I need to watch it again!

My favorite performances were by Sugarland who sang “Stand Up” a song that will benefit tornado relief in Missouri and Alabama, so go download it today!  And also Keith Urban just because well he’s KEITH URBAN. ha! If you’ve never had a chance to see Keith Urban live, these awards show performances give you a small taste of what a fantastic show he puts on.  And my final favorite performance was Lady Antebellum’s cover of the Prince song “Kiss”.  It was totally unexpected and I loved it!

My only disappointments were that Jason Aldean & Kelly Clarkson’s duet didn’t win for Collaborative Video of the Year.  They lost out to Justin Bieber & Rascal Flatts.  I guess Bieber Fever took over that category.

I was stunned when Shania Twain slipped and fell during her entrance to present the Male Video of the Year award.  I couldn’t believe my eyes and felt so bad for her!  For having been out of the spotlight for so long and to slide right in like that…quite an entrance!

Congrats to the big winners Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift.  I feel like they have all worked very hard and are finally getting some much deserved recognition.  What do you guys think?

Here’s a full list of the winners in case you missed it!

Video of the Year: Taylor Swift – ‘Mine’
Male Video of the Year: Blake Shelton – ‘Who Are You When I’m Not Looking’
