Busy Weekend in OKC

It was a big weekend for country music and rodeo fans. The IFR was in town, as were George Strait and Reba McEntire.

Sadly, I missed all of it. I heard both were packed full of entertainment. Did you go to either?

By the way…I think George might be sporting one of his own shirts…looks pretty close to this one (Wrangler Men’s George Strait Long Sleeve Plaid Button Down Navy/Gold) don’t you think?

I have to say my favorite is the Lee Ann Womack, The Season for Romance, it’s very bluesy country. What am I missing? What else do you listen to around this time of year?

This is a big week with the CMAs on Wednesday. Miranda Lambert is nominated with a record breaking 9 nominations. We’ll also get to see the duet with Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson on the show in addition to Gwyneth Paltrow’s performance of Country Strong. What are you most looking forward to?

Reba McEntire performs on Good Morning America on Tuesday, 11/09.
Good Morning American has Dierks Bentley performing live from Nashville on Wednesday, 11/10.
The 44th Annual CMA Awards air live on Wednesday, 11/10 featuring Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Reba, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean.
Blake Shelton performs on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, 11/10.
The Late Show with David Letterman has Reba McEntire on Friday, 11/12.

Pure Country 2

I have to admit, one of my guilty pleasure movies I will watch any time it comes on tv is Pure Country. I will still quote from this movie til this day…”Go on, get your a$$ out of here”. I love that part.

Have you heard they came out with a sequel and George Strait is a part of it? YES! It stars up-and-coming country singer Katrina Elam along with Dean Cain and George Strait. Here’s a synopsis of the movie:

A young woman, blessed by angels with a beautiful singing voice as a baby, must regain what she has lost in her climb to fame and fortune.

The movie started in limited release this past weekend, will you be seeing it?

Did y’all catch Martina McBride’s performance on Stand Up to Cancer last week? It was phenomenal! Looks like Lady Antebellum and Kris Kristofferson were added to the lineup last minute. You can catch their performance on You Tube, it’s definitely worth a listen.

Blake Shelton was also all over the late night shows last week, did any of you watch those? What did you think?

Appearances seem to be on the low end this week, probably because all the fall premieres start this week. But here’s what we have:

GAC takes you behind the scenes of Brad Paisley‘s H2O Tour. Brad also talks about how the flooding in Nashville destroyed most of their equipment right before the tour began. Brad Paisley Under Water airs on Tuesday, 9/21.
George Strait‘s Pure Country will be on CMT Wednesday, 9/22. You know you love it!
Stage Left with Keith Urban & Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy World Tour will be on GAC Wednesday, 9/22. Keith Urban talks to Nan Kelley about the world tour as well as all his favorite guitars.
Toby Keith discusses his career on GAC’s Conversations from the Road: Toby Keith on Thursday, 9/23.

What will you be watching? I think the Brad Paisley interview regarding the flooding would be fascinating.

Total fail on my part, I forgot to let y’all know about the CMT Music Fest that was airing last Wednesday. Did y’all watch it? Lots of great entertainment! I also really loved all the tweets that were flying from all the artists during the airing of that show. Here’s what’s coming up this week:

Blake Shelton LIVE: It’s All About Tonight will be airing on GAC, Wednesday, 9/8.
Taylor Swift will be performing on the 2010 NFL Kickoff show Thursday, 9/9.
The Late Show with David Letterman will feature a performance by Jamey Johnson on Thursday, 9/9.
Sugarland will be performing on The Today Show Friday, 9/10.
Stand Up to Cancer which airs live on Friday, 9/10 will feature a musical performance by Martina McBride.
Blake Shelton will perform on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson Friday 9/10.
GAC is replaying the George Strait: ACM Artist of the Decade All Star Concert. If you didn’t catch it originally, you definitely should catch it Saturday 9/11, it has some great great performances by many popular country artists.
Carrie Underwood performs on SNL Saturday 9/11, it’s a repeat but definitely worth a listen!
