Boho Vibe

Several things on our new items page have that Bohemian vibe to them. I love it. It seems so summer to me. Hanging out at a summer BBQ or by the lake, it just feel a bit boho.

This Rock and Roll Cowgirl Vest can be dressed up or down. With jeans and a black tank it easily works for night…but I can also see it with a white tank and jean shorts for a day relaxing with friends.

This  Anama Indian Headdress Top is on my wish list for sure. For a more modern look you can pair it with colored jeans. If you want to stay true to it’s boho vibe, throw on some cut offs and tie your hair in a messy loose bun. Either way you will look great!

Prefer your boho a bit more understated? Add these Cindy Smith beads to any outfit for a bit of summer fun.

Wear It: Takin’ Pills

Pistol Annies have a fun new video out called Takin’ Pills. Have you seen it? Check it out:

Fun right? I love all three of the girls’ outfits. It’s like this country rock edgy look, very no holds barred, you know? They layer their tops and they layer their jewelry and they wear fringy boots. Its all fun all the time! So here’s the outfit that I’d put together based on this video but via Langston’s.

Rock & Roll Cowgirl Women’s Tank Top with Winged Heart Design – Steel
Derek Heart Women’s Short Sleeve Cardigan with Black Lace Panel
Miss Me Women’s Slim Fit Boot Cut Jeans with Hand Whip Stitching
Ariat Women’s Indian Sugar Gypsy Soule Cowboy Boots – Black
Ariat Women’s Vivid Collection Belt – Berry
Cindy Smith Women’s Teal Sheriff Cross Ring

I think this outfit perfectly captures the spirit of the video, just super fun and funky. I’d wear it! Would you?

Wear It: Baggage Claim

Did y’all catch this performance of Miranda Lambert’s Baggage Claim at the 2011 CMA Awards? It’s now become her official video for Baggage Claim. Miranda always has fun outfits and I think she looks great in black…go check it out.

I love the black outfit with those pops of silver she has in her wide belt and jacket. And you know what they always say ladies…black is very slimming! This is how I’d go about putting together a black and silver outfit, Langston’s style.

Witness Women’s Long Sleeve Layering Burn Out T-Shirt – Black (Closeout)
Cindy Smith Women’s Rhinestone Cross Ring (Closeout)
Levi’s ® 524 ™ Women’s Skinny Jeans – Black Pressed (Discontinued)
Corral Women’s Cowboy Boots with Silver Star Underlay – Black

So that’s how I’d do a silver and black outfit. Those boots are a MUST and you can either add a silver belt like Miranda or a big chunky necklace, or bracelet or like we’ve selected a big ring. In the words of Miranda Lambert’s Baggage Claim, come and get it!

Let us know if you have a favorite outfit you want us to recreate!!

Ali to host Texas Awards Show

Our friend Ali Dee is hosting the 2nd Annual Texas Regional Radio and Music Awards on March 25th.  Congrats Ali! I know we will all be watching! And I can’t wait to see what you wear!!! All award shows need a good after party with a fun dress. I think this Panhandle Slim dress would look great on Ali.

I think it is sometimes nice to leave a low neckline alone and keep the jewelry on the ears  or wrists instead. I think this Cindy Smith Cuff and Cindy Smith Ring would work perfectly with the dress.

Employee Picks

Up this week is Debbie with a great outfit. I know you shop us for jeans, but have you ever checked out our dresses? This outfit is all about the dress. This Wrangler Women’s Rock 47 V-Neck Dresscan be worn so many different ways. Debbie pairs it with boots, Women’s Ariat Heritage Western Boots – Vintage Caramel, for a great Fall look. In the summer, it could easily pair with some sandals. Want to wear it into the Spring, try adding a cardigan over it. For winter add some tights, or even try it over some jeggings. The v-neck cut of this dress allows this Cindy Smith Women’s Dark Silver Tone Three Strand Necklace and Earring Set to shine.

When asked about this outfit, Debbie said “I love this dress. Seriously, I have no words!” I love it when people get excited about clothes. Yes, it is what is on the inside that counts, but that is no reason not to have fun with what is on the outside too!! Debbie lists these boots as her favorites and thinks they pair well with the dress. I agree! She picked the necklace for the same reason I liked it with this dress. The neckline allows the necklace to stand out.

Thanks Debbie!

Wear It: Give

LeAnn Rimes has a new video out called “Give”. It’s a powerful ballad with a powerful message. LeAnn’s outfit is very soft and subtle, allowing the message of the song to shine through. This outfit also looks decidedly COMFORTABLE y’all! Check it out:

I’m sorta in love with this outfit now even thought it’s muted greys and tans. Here’s how I’d do it Langston’s style:

Petrol Women’s Afternoon Tea Top – Grey
Southern Thread Women’s Bobbie Skinny Fit Stretch Jeans
Minnetonka Moccasins – Women’s Calf Hi Tan Suede Fringe Boots
Cindy Smith Women’s 3 Strand Turquoise Necklace and Earring Set

Honestly, I want to put all these items in my cart right now and hit CHECKOUT. The top is flowy and forgiving and those moccasins you know have got to be like wearing slippers all day but you will look so darn cute doing it!

What do y’all think? Will you be rocking this look of LeAnn’s? Tell us! We want to know!

Employee Picks

Up this week with an outfit pick is Christy.

Let’s start at the top….Christy picked this Cindy Smith Women’s 3 Strand Turquoise Necklace and Earring Set. This matching turquoise necklace and earring set features a three strand turquoise necklace as well as matching earrings. Christy said, ” I love the necklace because of the three different strands, the texture and the turquoise stone brings it all together.” This set works well paired with a button down, like the Roper Women’s Long Sleeve Paisley Print Snap Shirt that Christy picked, but it also works with solid knits or basic cotton. It’s very versatile.

Christy paired the button down with these Levi’s ® Juniors 524 ™ Boot Cut Jeans. I also think it would be great with some black pants or jeans.  She said, ” I picked this shirt because of the ocean blue color and the warm tone paisley print. The jeans are very comfortable and the dark blue compliments the ocean blue in the shirt. ”

As for boots, Christy went with Ariat, the Women’s Legend Boots. About the boots she said, ” I picked the boots because of the color which brings out the brown in the shirt. ”

Thanks for a great pick Christy!

Fall Trend – Lace

Lace has been popping up everywhere as a huge trend for Fall. I love how you can play up the sexy side of it, or dress it down for a casual look, or even make it work for work!

This lace shirt by Roper has the sort of built in tank with it – so you don’t need to layer it with anything else.

I’d pair this with some bright boot (Corral Red Boots),  a statement necklace (Cindy Smith) and a night on the town.

For a more casual look, I would go for one of these shirts by Ariat, the burn out tee or the lace henly.

You would want to layer both of these with a tank or tee under them. I think the burn out tee is a great casual option for every day wear. I’d pair it with a lighter tee or tank to really high light the texture of the fabric. The lace henly could be paired with a dark tee and worn under a jack to work…as long as your work isn’t too much of a suit and tie environment!

So what do you think? Is the lace trend one you will try?

Employee Picks – Sandra

Up this week in our employee picks series, Sandra. Sandra picked one of my all time favorite boots to feature in this outfit. The Ariat Women’s Shada 10″ Cowboy Boots in Peanut Briddle have been on my wish list all year. Not only are they stylish, but they are made with the ATS ™ technology which helps reduce weakness in the foot and cushions the foot for a more comfortable fit. Sandra said she picked these boots because they go great with the natural multi print of the shirt.

Speaking of that shirt, Beachcomber Lizzer Gauze Top by Lucky Brand. This 100% cotton top is easy to wear from both a style and a comfort standpoint. Sandra said, “The shirt is simple but flirty, very comfortable and love natural multi print.”

For the jeans, Sandra picked Cruel Girl Women’s Alysa Low Rise Slim Boot Leg Jeans. When asked why, she said, “These jeans are so cute. I love the medium stonewash color and especially the fading in it.”

Finishing off the look is this Silver Tone 4 strand necklace set by Cindy Smith. This silver tone bead necklace comes with matching dangle silver tone bead earrings. “Love the Cindy Smith necklace set and it give the right look you need.” Well said Sandra.

Nine as in Nancy

There was no way I wasn’t using that as the post title today. If you watched Texas Women last night you heard Hannah use this line while trying to give her credit card to the florist. That lady was just not getting it. Too funny. Let’s just start there with the recap and jump around some shall we?

I thought Hannah deciding not to go was a good call. She said she didn’t want to make the party about her by going and having some sort of drama happen. I think sending flowers was totally sweet and nice. Speaking of the anniversary party, I loved both Brooke’s sort of studded top and Ali Dee’s floral dress. I can’t really tie them to anything in the store right now…but on with the recap anyway!

I was so sad for Anna and her missing dog. About halfway through the search I turned to my husband and said, “if that dog shows up right now, I am going to think some CMT intern had her and that this was all for show.” Then I saw how upset Anna was, and I kind of wished the intern thing was true, but of course it wasn’t and her sweet dog is gone. Sad. Not to turn and make this about fashion, but come on, you are on a western wear fashion blog – I think Anna was wearing Miss Me jeans on her search mission. They were a flap pocket jean similar to any of these Miss Me Jeans.

Brooke did a little anniversary shopping in this episode. She wanted to stay under $10,000. That budget sounds nice, but mine is more in the $25 range. Lucky for me we had a TON of new stuff hit the shelves this week.  Two of my favs…

This Turquoise and Silver necklace by Cindy Smith seems so Anna to me. Love it.

And I could totally see Ali Dee (does anyone else always call her Ali Dee? I never just say Ali) in this four strand necklace also by Cindy Smith.

Hannah’s parents came to town. She mentioned a while back that they live in Edmond which is north OKC, so they are in our neck of the woods. Her little sister was rocking some boots that looked to be these Ariat Legend Square Toe ones.

Best line in the entire show, well, besides the “Nine as in Nancy” one… Hannah was asking her dad if he was proud of her for following her dreams. His answer, “Ride her till she bucks you.” Solid advice.

Thanks guys for following along in this mash up of a recap. The previews for next week look great and I think I saw Ali Dee in a Southern Thread shirt. More on that next week….
