New Music Releases

Miranda Lambert comes out with her highly anticipated album, Four The Record, today. It’s been a couple of years since we had a solo album from Miranda but you would never guess it. Revolution was hugely successful and then her girl group, Pistol Annies came out with an album that I LOVE and am still listening to now. So Miranda hasn’t really been MIA, just no new album until now.

I’ve gone through and previewed each song and am living EVERYTHING, so I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed at all. My recommendations at first glance are Fastest Girl in Town, Over You, and Oklahoma Sky. It was really tough to narrow that down, so you should definitely get a listen for yourself. I definitely want to listen to Over You from start to finish as it was cowritten by Miranda and her husband Blake Shelton about the death of his brother. If I’m not mistaken, this is going to be Lambert’s next single after Baggage Claim.

Blake Shelton’s Cutting Footloose

By now I would imagine you’ve heard that a remake of Footloose is coming out soon right? It’s starring Julianne Hough (Dancing with the Stars) and Kenny Wormald. But have you heard this part….BLAKE SHELTON IS SINGING FOOTLOOSE ON THE SOUNDTRACK!! That’s right folks, same great music, new peeps singing and Blake Shelton was the lucky guy to sing the title track. I’ve checked it out and its actually pretty darn good. Have a listen…

What do you think? Are you going to check out the movie? Better yet, will you be downloading Blake Shelton’s version of Footloose? No doubt, I am!

2011 CMT Music Video Awards

langstons cmt video awards
Did y’all check out the 2011 CMT Music Video Awards last night? It was on at our house! They will be replaying it over and over I’m sure, so you definitely need to check out one of the best parts of the show, the intro with Taylor Swift and Shania Twain as “Thelma & Louise”.  It was funny and fantastic and I need to watch it again!

My favorite performances were by Sugarland who sang “Stand Up” a song that will benefit tornado relief in Missouri and Alabama, so go download it today!  And also Keith Urban just because well he’s KEITH URBAN. ha! If you’ve never had a chance to see Keith Urban live, these awards show performances give you a small taste of what a fantastic show he puts on.  And my final favorite performance was Lady Antebellum’s cover of the Prince song “Kiss”.  It was totally unexpected and I loved it!

My only disappointments were that Jason Aldean & Kelly Clarkson’s duet didn’t win for Collaborative Video of the Year.  They lost out to Justin Bieber & Rascal Flatts.  I guess Bieber Fever took over that category.

I was stunned when Shania Twain slipped and fell during her entrance to present the Male Video of the Year award.  I couldn’t believe my eyes and felt so bad for her!  For having been out of the spotlight for so long and to slide right in like that…quite an entrance!

Congrats to the big winners Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift.  I feel like they have all worked very hard and are finally getting some much deserved recognition.  What do you guys think?

Here’s a full list of the winners in case you missed it!

Video of the Year: Taylor Swift – ‘Mine’
Male Video of the Year: Blake Shelton – ‘Who Are You When I’m Not Looking’
Female Video of the Year: Miranda Lambert – ‘The House That Built Me’
Group Video of the Year: Lady Antebellum – ‘Hello World’
Duo Video of the Year: Sugarland – ‘Stuck Like Glue’
USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year: The Band Perry – ‘If I Die Young’
Collaborative Video of the Year: Justin Bieber featuring Rascal Flatts – ‘That Should Be Me’
CMT Performance of the Year: Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffett – ‘Margaritaville’ from CMT Crossroads
Best Web Video of the Year: Blake Shelton – ‘Kiss My Country Ass’

Agree or Disagree?

Did you guys watch The Voice last night? I am kind of on the fence about some of the decisions. I would have picked Tarralyn over Frenchie I think. And I know I would have picked Tyler over Patrick. I trust Blake and Reba…but I am not too sure about that decision. How about you? I think Patrick can sing a great Country tune…but I thought Tyler was interesting and had a great range of vocals. Would have been cool to see how Reba and Blake would have worked with him. Anyway, enough of my griping. I did agree with the other two picks, Vicci and Casey.

I did have a few fashion questions…like the puffy tail thing that Niki wore? I am not too sure about that. Patrick sounded great, but I think we could up his style vibe. How abouy this shirt for his next performance?

I think the lighter color would look great against the darker stage and background, and the detailing would look good on close ups. The contrast of the sleeves is some added interest to set the shirt apart and make it different. Rock and Roll Cowboy Men’s Long Sleeve Dip Dyed Snap Shirt with Embroidery – Dark Grey

Vicci needs to rock these Dingo boots for her next performance…I think they totally fit her style.

Dingo Women’s Metro 7″ Zipper Harness Boots – Chocolate

What did you guys think of the show? Agree or Disagree with the coaches? And how about Blake’s new video???
