Employee Pick – Lindsey

Ok…this outfit is completely ready to wear. Where? Anywhere. The fair is here in OKC right now and this would easily work for a night there, but it would also be a great pick for movie night, date night or a casual work look. I love Lindsey’s picks.

Lindsey said that she wanted to go with a darker denim to draw your eyes to the boots and top. For that same reason she went with simple silver hoop earrings. I think a lot of outfits need attention getting bling, but I agree with Lindsey that the star of the show here is the top. As far as the denim, dark is usually my go to. I like how it can be both dressy and casual depending on what you pair it with. Lucky Brand Lola jeans are one of my favs. I like the darker color and the boot cut fit.

As far as the top, Lindsey said “I love the shimmery grey lace and the cut on the neckline.” This Ariat top is flattering on lots of different builds and is the perfect cool tone color for Fall and Winter. Paired with it are Wild Ginger Lane Boots. Lindsey loved “the pattern on the boots and that they black and grey go with the top.”

What do you think? Is this a look you could and would rock? Where would you wear it?

1 shirt, 3 looks

I love a shirt that can do double duty…or triple duty!

This Men’s Long Sleeve Western Plaid Snap Shirt by Roper in Green is a great example of one shirt that can be worn many ways.

This shirt works great open over a patterned or solid tee. Leave it untucked and roll the sleeves. Wear it with shirts, kaki pants or jeans. An easy, casual look for everyday wear.

And of course, you can’t go wrong leaving this shirt as the star and just pairing it with good jeans and boots…

Wear It: We Owned The Night

As we told you earlier in the week, Lady Antebellum has a new album out and we thought we’d feature one of their videos in our Wear It series. I’m going to focus specifically on Hillary Scott’s outfit in this video.

She’s wearing a blouse-y type of top with a 3/4 length sleeve and at a certain point in the video falls off her shoulder a bit, along with skinny jeans. Here’s how I’d do it, Langston’s style:

Ariat Women’s Cerres Lace Shirred Top – Wine Berry
Levi’s 524 Women’s Skinny Jeans – Black Pressed
Lane Boots Women’s ‘Wild Ginger’ Cowboy Boots – Black

I love the length of the sleeve on this Ariat top and definitely love the color of it. I’d go with black jeans and these Lane Boots…that stitching pulls the top and jeans together perfectly.

So tell me, are you a fan of Hillary Scott’s style?

Nine as in Nancy

There was no way I wasn’t using that as the post title today. If you watched Texas Women last night you heard Hannah use this line while trying to give her credit card to the florist. That lady was just not getting it. Too funny. Let’s just start there with the recap and jump around some shall we?

I thought Hannah deciding not to go was a good call. She said she didn’t want to make the party about her by going and having some sort of drama happen. I think sending flowers was totally sweet and nice. Speaking of the anniversary party, I loved both Brooke’s sort of studded top and Ali Dee’s floral dress. I can’t really tie them to anything in the store right now…but on with the recap anyway!

I was so sad for Anna and her missing dog. About halfway through the search I turned to my husband and said, “if that dog shows up right now, I am going to think some CMT intern had her and that this was all for show.” Then I saw how upset Anna was, and I kind of wished the intern thing was true, but of course it wasn’t and her sweet dog is gone. Sad. Not to turn and make this about fashion, but come on, you are on a western wear fashion blog – I think Anna was wearing Miss Me jeans on her search mission. They were a flap pocket jean similar to any of these Miss Me Jeans.

Brooke did a little anniversary shopping in this episode. She wanted to stay under $10,000. That budget sounds nice, but mine is more in the $25 range. Lucky for me we had a TON of new stuff hit the shelves this week.  Two of my favs…

This Turquoise and Silver necklace by Cindy Smith seems so Anna to me. Love it.

And I could totally see Ali Dee (does anyone else always call her Ali Dee? I never just say Ali) in this four strand necklace also by Cindy Smith.

Hannah’s parents came to town. She mentioned a while back that they live in Edmond which is north OKC, so they are in our neck of the woods. Her little sister was rocking some boots that looked to be these Ariat Legend Square Toe ones.

Best line in the entire show, well, besides the “Nine as in Nancy” one… Hannah was asking her dad if he was proud of her for following her dreams. His answer, “Ride her till she bucks you.” Solid advice.

Thanks guys for following along in this mash up of a recap. The previews for next week look great and I think I saw Ali Dee in a Southern Thread shirt. More on that next week….

Wear It: Honey Bee

Blake Shelton is definitely one of our favorites!  Especially after we all became addicted to The Voice around here. Don’t you think he’s a cutie patootie? Ok Ok I’ll stop!  But let’s get to his duds in the Honey Bee video shall we?

Trouble viewing the video above? Go here.

Blake likes to rock a cool casual look, am I right? So this is what I’d do to recreate the look:

Cinch Men’s Long Sleeve Plaid Button Down Western Shirt – Cream
Levi’s Men’s Long Sleeve Batwing T-Shirt
Justin Men’s 10″ Classic Roper Cowboy Boots – Chestnut Marbled Deerlite
Ariat Men’s M2 Relaxed Boot Leg Jeans – Granite

I put the grey t-shirt going underneath the plaid one, but you can totally do the navy as well, it would work too. Now that relaxed, curly haired, sexy charm he’s got going on? I can’t help you with that one.

Pretty in Pink

Let’s start with the babies and work our way through the family…

Start them off right in life with these John Deere Infant’s Wellington Soft Sole Booties. So adorable. When they outgrown these, they can move on to the John Deere Infant Boots.

There are plenty of boot choices for mama too…

These Ariat Women’s Showbaby Square Toe Wingtip Cowboy Boots are my top pick.

Pink boots for men….well, come on. Yes, real men do wear pink…I can prove it. But probably not pink boots. This Wrangler Men’s 20X Long Sleeve Plaid Western Button Down Shirt can and should be rocked by every man.

Let’s go back to the women… this Rock and Roll Cowgirl Women’s Peasant Top with Cross Embroidery is sure to turn some heads, in a good way!

I am kind of wishing this Cruel Girl Girl’s Long Sleeve Print Western Snap Shirt came in my size!

And back full circle to the babies…

Wrangler Infant’s Western Print Fleece Blanket

Wait…did I mention jewelry? I love these Kender West Women’s Leopard Print Beaded Earrings.

Style Watch

A few things in this month’s People Style Watch caught my eye…

Plaid shirts. Tim Gunn recommends them over skinny jeans to avoid a “sloppy” look. I agree, if the shirt is oversized and you are wearing it open over a tank as shown in the mag…skinny jeans is the way to go. But, if you are wearing a more fitted plaid shirt, I think it works over any cut of jean. Check out or collection of long sleeve shirts.

This Brooks and Dunn by Panhandle Slim Long Sleeve Western Plaid Snap Shirt is one of my favs.

The mag also had a blurb about denim on denim. Tim Gunn’s main point was to consider fit…and I agree. But I also think color is a main factor. He was ok with a dark on dark look where as I am not. I think matching denim ends up looking kind of off. I think it is better to have contrast…a light paired with a dark.

I’d pair thisLucky Brand Women’s Long Sleeve Palomino Denim Shirt – Freeway Wash with darker jeans like these Ariat Women’s Turquoise Slim Fit Mid Rise Boot Cut Jeans – Moonshadow.

A Fall look that was featured on Sarah Jessica Parker was skinny jeans with low boots. These Dingo Women’s Adobe Rose 7″ Boots with Side Zipper are available in light or dark brown. Pair them with skinny jeans to recreate the look.

The last look that caught my eye was denim jackets with furry collars and linings. They showed Kate Bosworth rocking one. I’ll pass on the $242 version one they showed in favor of this Dickies Women’s Sherpa Lined Denim Jacket for $54.97.

What do you think? Are these looks headed into your closet for Fall?
