How do I love thee?

How much do I love this tunic? 3 ways, 3 very fun and different ways…all equally amazing. This Wrangler Women’s Chiffon Print Tunic Dress is 100% polyester chiffon with a scoop neck. I love, love, love the flare at the wrist sleeves.

tunic

This tunic dress works 3 ways in my opinion – with boots, heels and flats or flip flops. I see it right now in these wintery temps with tights and boots. This spring I would rock it with sky high heels and then this summer I could see throwing it on over my bikini with some flip flops. What do you think? Does this dress do triple duty?

Vendor Spotlight: Ariat

People who don’t wear boots often think that they are uncomfortable. “Aren’t they stiff and hard to wear?” At one time they were. Traditional riding boots were heavy and stiff and hard on your feet. Thanks to Ariat, that is no longer the case. In 1993 Beth Cross and Pam Parker decided that they wanted to make boots that felt good! They researched and planned and tried and crafted until they had found a way to design and make boots for both Western and English riders that were easy to wear. They basically took athletic shoe technology and married it with boots - genius. All that R&D gave way to ATS technology, Advanced Torque Stability.

A few years later they added Hexcel cushioning to their list of innovations, and later Cobalt. They are all about helping cushion the boot for a stable, yet comfortable, ride…or walk.

In addition to making boots for you and I to wear, Ariat is the official boot of the PBR and was a USEF Team Partner for the London Olympic games.

In the past 7 years, Ariat has added apparel their bag of tricks. First they started with belts, but soon added shirts and now they have a denim line as well. Too many professional riders to count wear their clothes and boots, and plenty of Country Music starts as well. I know Blake Shelton is a fan…and you know I am a fan of his (go team Blake!! #thevoice!!)

The Voice

I know, I know…I said no recaps…but I am watching and I just can’t resist getting your thoughts!!! I am kind of glad that 2 Steel Girls lost out to Gracia. It’s not that I didn’t like them, I just like her more. She is adorable. I loved her pink frilly dress. She had matching boots, but in my mind she had these Johnny Ringo ones on instead. How cute would the turquoise/green of these been with that dress?

Casey was sent home. I think he will rock the bars in his area and have a good local career. If you liked his look, we have plenty of shirts similar to the one he wore. This Rockmount Men’s Vintage Floral Western Snap Shirt is great for on stage, but also great for a night out!

Collin was saved by Blake after leaving Team Adam. I think Adam made the right call, but I also think Blake did. I think this is a good place for Collin to be. He might need Blake as his voice coach, but I think he needs to look to Adam for fashion. Well worn jeans, boots and a classic tee are a great look for him and one that Adam often rocks. These Rambler boots by Ariat are one of my favorites and they would be great for Collin.

What were your thoughts? Any favorites so far? I am keeping mine to myself for now. Still trying to form my opinions!

Transitions

I love summer sundresses, but I hate leaving them in my closet the other 3 seasons! Lots of these dresses work for fall by adding a cardigan or some tights. This Stetson Women’s Stretch Denim Western Dress with Waist Tie would be amazing with some textured tights.

Or try this Southern Thread Women’s Printed Cambric Sleeveless Dress with this Derek Heart Junior’s Long Sleeve Ribbed Cardigan. By the way, this sweater is $14.45!!! and comes in 5 colors.

This Derek Heart Junior’s Short Sleeve Belted Cardigan (Also $14.45) could help transition this Rockin Bohemian Women’s Broomstick Skirt into fall. Just add boots (Ariat Women’s Sonora Cowboy Boots – Bitterwater Brown) and you are ready for a cool Fall day.

Men’s boots

I get asked a lot of times about good “starter” boots. The one pair of boots any/every man should own. If you aren’t used to wearing boots, a pointy toe might be a tough transition for you. I tend to recommend a squared off toe instead.

These 3 Ariat boots are all great options in my opinion. They work well with jeans for a day to day look. You can pair them with a sweater in the winter and a tee in the summer.

Ariat Men’s Hotwire 13″ Cowboy Boots

Ariat Men’s Heritage Reinsman 11″ Cowboy Boots

These next ones look more like a work boot, but they work really well as a daily boot – in the office or out in the yard.

Ariat® Men’s Rambler Boots

If you do want a dressier boot, these Stetson Men’s Handmade Distressed Eagle Underlay Cowboy Boots are gorgeous!

These Corral Men’s Distressed Black Boots with Gold Wings and Silver Crosses are amazing too.

Hope this helps for those of you looking for a new pair of boots! Let me know what your favorite boots are…I’d love to hear.

The Voice – Season Finale

So…what happens here if I write a recap with no western wear in it? I am pretty sure my boss would frown on that huh? This episode is a bit hard to tie into the store.

Jermain. He is my number 2 guy. He has a great voice and great style. I love the relationship he has with Blake and really, overall I like him.

Juliet. She is kind of a hot mess. My love for her isn’t as strong as it was. I loved when she did Roxanne and Cryin’ in weeks prior, but I wasn’t really feeling her this week. And what’s the deal with the ever changing hair color? Her dress for Free Bird was kind or orange and flowy and dramatic. These Ariat Women’s Outlaw 11″ Square Toe Boots – Chico Brown/Bronze Dazzle Boots are dramatic and orange…maybe? I told you. It’s a hard episode to tie into fashion. Overall, I am ok with her, but I am not voting for her.

In the other 2 performances she had a black and gold theme going on. 2 different looks but both were in that vein. These Ferrini Women’s Floral Lace Cowboy Boots would have fit right in.

Chris. Oh my god make him go away. I know, I know…he has a great voice. But he has a great opera voice. I am just not into it. The duet with Christina? That dress? Seriously you guys, I love her voice and her outside of the show, but  her bad attitude towards Tony and Adam just annoys me. As far as the dress…it was not good on her.

Tony Lucca. No lie, I downloaded his version of 99 Problems today. He is my pick. He has my vote. I loved all three songs he did last night. That Maroon 5 song is tough to sing and he did great. It can be debated by anyone and everyone, but he and Adam were completely calling Christina out with their song pick. And I loved it. She has been hard on Tony all season. She deserved it!

Ok. Light on the fashion, heavy on the drama. I can’t wait to see what happens tonight! Go Tony!!!!!

I am siting here sipping my morning coffee wondering what to write about last nights finale. Tony lost. Not only did he lose but he wasn’t even 2nd place. But…I did get to hear him sing with Jordis which I liked. Lady A was great as usual. RaeLynn was sassy and fun as usual. And all in all I think Jermain was a good pick and am happy for him. One question for you guys….why was Christina in a leotard (again) when not performing? Is this a fashion trend I am unaware of? Leotards for no reason?

My pick didn’t win…second season in a row. Maybe next season I’ll pick the winner!

Texas Women – episode 4

Are you on Twitter? I had a blast Sat night live tweeting with the Texas Women ladies.

Forgive me for this random recap, but I can’t seem to write this episode in order. I’ll try to group it by person instead!

Anna and her friend traded “dares” of sorts. She proved she can toss hay and ride a mechanical bull and he proved he can get a pedicure. I am not at all sure how that evens out!??! Next month Langston’s is working on a promotion with a local blogger in which we check out a club here that offers live bull riding. No mechanical bull around here….a live bull. I want the Texas Women girls to come hang with us! Consider this your invitation ladies!

Hannah wore a cute black tee with a cross on it this episode. It reminded me of this Roper Women’s Nailhead Cross Tank Top.

As I tweeted last night, I am on Team Patrick. Angelo is just not hot. I am sorry – he isn’t! And Patrick is so sweet!!! Cicely trying to play it off like the guys are models…um…no. To copy Patrick’s casual look, pair this Dickies Men’s Long Sleeve Chambray Button Down Work Shirt with some khaki pants…and a beautiful dog!

Brooke and Jason are cracking me up. I too live with a husband who snores. I find a good tug on the blanket will make him roll over and solve my issue. I am pretty sure he would scoff at Brooke’s tape suggestion and I know he would refuse acupuncture. I think Jason’s last experience with the horse acupuncturist sounds a bit sketchy. And yes..Jason the needles were bigger -they were meant for horses! In that scene Jason wore a shirt very similar to this Lucky Brand Men’s Slub Pique Polo Shirt, in fact it might have been the same one but a different color?

The highlight the show had to be Brooke teaching Ali the classic “Bend and Snap” from Legally Blond. In that scene Brooke was wearing a shirt that laced up in the back. I think she would love this Rock & Roll Cowgirl Women’s Tank Top with Asymmetrical Lace Back tank.

Classic quotes from Brooke about picking and choosing when you want to be a slut. And I agree with her overall advice that you typically either show legs or cleavage, both is a bit much. All in all, $800 and a round of drinks for 4 tires is quite a deal!

I have zero notes on Ali’s wardrobe form last night..I think the live tweeting threw me off my game. So instead…let’s shop for Ali. I think she would love this Southern Thread Women’s Half Sleeve Voile Top with Embroidery don’t you?

I know I picked some boots for Ali last week, but we just got more Ariat Boots in and so I need to share more. They are just too cute to leave out of this post. These Ariat Women’s Rhinestone Cowgirl Boots are a little bit country and a little rock and roll – perfect for Ali and Hannah.

These Ariat Women’s Dandy 12″ Cowgirl Boots are perfect for Brooke and Anna. Classic Cowgirl with a bit of an edge.

Can’t wait until next week. As usual it looks like a great episode is brewing!

What I wore…

For today, I am going to limit this to my boots. I will show you my selection of jeans and tops another day! Ok…so boots. I have 5 pairs of boots, plus some.

Ariat Shada 10″ Cowboy Boot – This is my newest boot. I love the shorter height. I pair it with chunky knit socks and wear them over leggings and jeggings. I also like wearing them under boot cut jeans. The shorter shaft makes them really comfortable and they rub less on my calves than some other boots. I have to name these the most versatile boot in my closet.

Dan Post Maria 13″ Boot -Mine are many years old – so this link is not exact, but close. Mine are Dan Post. They are my only black boots and my first pair. I don’t wear them as much anymore, but being that they were my first, they will always hold a place in my heart!

Corral Women’s Stitched Boots – Desert Red – Who knew red could be so versatile?!? I love these. They are probably my #2 boot as far as how often I wear them.

Lane Boots – Old Mexico – These are fun for so many reasons. They are great in Spring and Summer with a white skirt or dress. Very Boho hippie in a way that I love. And they are Thunder colors so I can wear them to OKC Thunder games in the Fall and Winter and show the team some love.

Dan Post Women’s Taylor 12″ Boot – I wear my tall brown ones much the same ways as I do my short ones – over jeggings, under boot cut jeans – these go with anything and everything.

Not pictured…

Minnetonka Moccasin Knee High Fringe Boots – These are for those days you need comfortable sassy…I pair them with a cozy white sweater and black leggings. Comfort with attitude.

Minnetonka Moccasin Thunderbird Beaded Moc – I just got my first pair of Moc and am wearing them today. Talk about comfort! And the beading gives just the right amount of detail. I like these with jeans and a plain white or black tee.

Yea…ok….so I have a bit of a shoe problem. This doesn’t even take into account my heels and ballet flats!

What he wore

I was sitting here trying to decide what to write abut this week and I looked over and saw this….

These are my husbands new boots. H has been wearing them more days than not. They are the Ariat Rambler Cowboy Boot. There are a lot of reasons that this is a great go-to daily boot. It is rugged and tough…but not too much so. It still has clean lines and structure to it. He works in a casual office, so he needs some of that. But, he wears jeans daily, so he needs a boot that is casual and not too dressy. The shorter vamp and square toe make these boots extremely easy to wear and comfortable. Plus these boots have ATS technology which gives three times the support of normal cowboy boots. The Ariat Rambler’s EVA footbed and forefoot cushion gel reduces stress on hips, knees and back. Seriously, these are a great casual boots to wear daily…out tending to horses or inside pushing papers.

You might ask what he wears them with?!?!

Right now these Rock and Roll Cowboy Slim Fit Boot Cut Jeans top the rotation.

As far as shirts -the closet has plenty of plaid buttons downs hanging in it. My current favorite to see him in is this Lucky Men’s Camino Plaid Shirt. I love the detail on the pockets with the double snap.

For the girls.

For today’s Employee Pick, I am the one picking. I spent some time this Thanksgiving with my niece, actually a few of them….so I have girlie clothes on the brain. All the pink and glitter is so fun. I wanted to put together an outfit that had those, things in it, but that was also wearable and easy. It all starts with this Rock and Roll Cowgirl Girl’s 2-Fer T-Shirt with Winged Heart and Roses. I mean seriously, how cute is this shirt?? The black tee is paired with blue sleeves and bunches of bling and attitude all on a comfy 100% cotton base.

A tee like that needs some sturdy jeans to tone it down. Wrangler Girl’s “Cash” Cowgirl Cut Ultimate Riding Jeans – American Spirit (Sizes 7-14) are just the ticket. These jeans are great for riding, they have the perfect rise, plus flat seams and a vented bootcut. But they aren’t just for riding, they are a great every day jean too.

Those boot cut jeans need some boots. I love when boots have a fun shaft. Even if it stays hidden a lot, I know it is there. These Ariat Quickdraw Kids Boots – Brown/Giraffe Print are perfect. They feature a double stitch welt with a TPR outsole and 4LR technology and a fun giraffe pattern shaft.

It’s getting cold here in OKC, so some outerwear is needed for sure. Cruel Girl Girl’s Vest with Rhinestone Snaps – Pink is something I wish I could find in my size! I know a necklace might be overkill on this outfit, but I couldn’t resist picking out this Kid’s Lil Chick Multi Colored Chip Necklace with Flower Beads.
