Vendor Spotlight – Double J Saddelry

I love when I read about a company that walks the walk verses just talking the talk. Double J Saddelry is filled with people who ride hourses….daily. Many of them also compete on a national level in team roping or are involved in barrel racing, cutting, and western pleasure. As their site says, they “are connected to people who make a living working cattle on horseback here in South Texas.”

They have been around since 1991 building custom saddles as well as great looking tack, belts, and personal accessories. All from their factory in Yoakum, Texas.

We are proud to carry their fine belts. I can’t guarantee they will make you ride better, but can tell you that you will look good while trying!

Wear It: Buzzkill

Luke Bryan has a video out right now called Buzzkill. I love how casual Luke is in this video, he’s just sitting around playing guitar with a few of his band mates in casual yet sexy attire. You or your man can pull this same look off. Let’s check the video out first…

So don’t you agree that he’s got a great casual outfit going in this video? I actually kinda love that it’s a bit wrinkled and looks like he pulled everything out of the dryer after it’d been sitting for a full day or so. Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about. So here’s how we recreated this look, the Langston’s way…

Ariat Men’s M4 Low Rise Boot Cut Western Jeans – Gunsmoke
HOOey Men’s “806″ Cap – Black/Red

Colored Jeans

In addition to the Wrangler Booty Up Jeans that we carry in a variety of colors, we have added a few Rock and Roll Cowgirl ones to the mix.

The Wrangler Booty Up Jeans are a slim fit, low rise jean. They also feature built-in darts to lift and define your booty. These are great with boots as well as flats or sandals.

Rock and Roll Cowgirl has 2 different colored skinny jeans – one with flap pockets and one without. Both are more of a skinny/straight leg. They would still work with coots but will also look great with heels.

Want a pair to wear with boots under them? Try this boot cut colored jean by Rock and Roll Cowgirl.

No matter what style you chose, color or fit – you will be on trend in colored jeans and will wear them a ton, I promise!

1st boots

Let’s say one of us has a sister who is looking to buy her first pair of boots…..yes, I know. How is it possible she doesn’t own any right now?? I am sure those of you reading this all own boots, but maybe you have a sister or friend in need of this advice about buying your first pair, so here goes.

1) Are these for fashion or work? If they are really for work and you work on a ranch….this post is probably not for you and these aren’t really your first pair…but if they are, I’d look at the square toe ones that have a bit more girth in the sole. The Fatbaby line by Ariat  or the Gypsy Cowgirl by Justin for example.

2) What do you want to wear them with!?!??! Are you looking to have them under bootcut jeans, over jeggings or both? What about skirts?

If you want to show off the shaft of the boot by wearing them with skirts and/or jeggings….then get boots with a cool one! These Lane Stud Rocker boots are amazing. It would be a shame to hide them under jeans. Same goes for the Ariat Paloma boots. These are screaming to be paired with a white sundress for summer.

If you want the boots for primarily under bootcut jeans, maybe consider a colored boot. These red Old Gringo boots look perfect peaking out from under jeans.

3) What colors do you normally wear? I am a huge fan of all my boots, but my medium brown ones get the most wear. I pair them with white, grey and even black tops. To me they go with everything….almost. My sister has a lot of tops that are colored with black designs and embellishments. For her I would recommend a black boot.

My personal preference lies with snip toe boots. Not too square, not to pointed. However….if I was told to pick my 1 go to women’s boot right now it would be this one, the Ariat Dandy.

It is a bit more pointed than a snip toe, but I love the shape. It is plain enough that it will go with everything, yet the detailed cut outs give it enough interest that you can show it off. I can see it in winter with big cozy sweaters and in summer with dresses. At under $200 this is a great option and one you will wear for years to come.

Wear It: Home to Me

Sarah Darling has a video out right night called Home to Me and I gotta say, I just love her look. She’s got some great outfits, hair and makeup too! And of course a great sound! Let’s check it out!

I love the denim shirt over a dress and tied at the waist look. It’s a very simple look but wins some major cuteness awards from me. Here’s how you can do it the Langston’s way! I picked out a dress that still has some winter colors to it so you can wear this now. Add a denim shirt and some red sassy boots and you are done!

Chili

As winter starts to come to a close I find myself in a last ditch effort to make all my cold weather favorites. Slow cooked goodness seems to work better in Fall and Winter.

6182816951_526e724916_zEveryone has their own chili. The image above is from The Pioneer Woman. I have to agree with her that pairing it with fritos just makes it better! In our house we like beans in our chili, and we top it with cheese and sour cream. I like it spicy but my husband prefers a more mild taste.

Do you have a go to chili recipe? Possibly a family secret one? Is it the same every time or do you mix it up? I hate to measure  so mine changes from batch to batch based on how heavy handed I am that day when I pour the spices! I usually use beef, but I have a friend who swears that venison chili is the best.

Share with me your chili secrets…we are family right?

Two albums come out today that you need to be in the know about! First up! Ashley Monroe’s Like a Rose is out today. This is Monroe’s first album since 2009 and its a good one!! Definitely the shining song on this album is the duet with Blake Shelton called You Ain’t Dolly (And You Ain’t Porter). It’s a must listen! A couple of other songs off the album you need to check out are Like a Rose and You Got Me. It’s definitely an album that needs to be in your rotation!
Here-To-Party
Switching gears, we have Luke Bryan’s Spring Break…Here to Party out today as well just in time for Spring Break! Luke Bryan was quote as saying, “Any chance I have to continue to go to Spring Break, I’m always going to take that opportunity,” and that’s why he releases his Spring Break EPs. The whole album is fun, so go have a listen to all of it!

New Ariat Rambler Boot – The Phoenix

My love for the men’s Rambler Boot by Ariat is well documented. It is versatile and comfortable and easy to wear. It now has competition from a relative. A brother boot sort of speak. This Rambler Phoenix Boot is hard to resist.

langstons_2251_4390457

Everything I love plus some added detail. Duratread™ outsole, Ariat’s signature ATS® technology footbed, square toe, weathered look  and this Phoenix. I am in love.

langstons_2251_4781115

It may be the perfect boot in my opinion. Pair it with jeans and a tee for an everyday look. Add a button down for a layered look…button and tuck in the shirt if you are headed to a meeting…top it off with a sweater for dinner with your love…yep, this boot works for everything.
