New Music Releases

Are y’all all aware of Ryan Adams? He’s what you’d call alt-country. His “Gold” album is just phenomenal, so if you don’t have that in your collection it’s definitely a must have. Maybe you’ve heard of Tim McGraw’s “Stars Go Blue”? Yeah that was Ryan Adam’s song and it’s on the Gold album. Trust me, he’s super.

Today he comes out with his own iTunes session. It’s eight songs from his past and present albums with a couple of covers. Just really great stuff, definitely worth a listen. My particular favorite is Oh My Sweet Carolina, which by the way Zac Brown Band has covered and that’s available on iTunes as well. Both are great versions.

Other albums coming out today: Lee Brice’s Hard to Love, Kip Moore’s Up All Night, and Marty Stuart’s Nashville: Volume 1.

So are you a Ryan Adams fan? Will you be buying this iTunes Session? What else are you listening to?

Texas Women – Episode 3

Ya’ll…these girls are crazy! Bar fights, strip clubs, rodeos..you name it, they get into it! So Brooke didn’t go to jail, but she didn’t go home either.

“She can change a tire, she can beat a man’s ass” – Jason on why he loves Brooke.

Jason wore a cream snap shirt with some light stripes in it. While looking for a match I came across this Ariat Men’s Donny LS Stripe Snap Shirt with Embroidery. It isn’t really the shirt he wore, or even very close…but I totally think he would love this pick and rock it out on the town with Brooke, don’t you?

Brooke wore a few tops this week that reminded me of things we carry. This Iron Horse Women’s Ada Short Sleeve Burn Out T-ShirtI think I have posted before. It is similar to the tank she was wearing in some of the interview scenes. She also wore a foil design tee similar to this Miss Me Women’s Embellished Twist Tank Top.

All ended well that night, as Brooke said “when you don’t go to jail, that’s a good night.” Amen sister. This was a Brooke filled episode, we found out she was a twin, went hat shopping, and met her nieces. I think Brooke’s niece needs this Cowgirl Justice Girl’s “Ain’t my First Rodeo” Short Sleeve T-Shirt don’t you?

Hannah’s love life was front and center in this episode. Angelo or Patrick. Um…hello!?!?!?!? Patrick. Hands down. Hannah….go for Patrick!!! Angelo is not a good pick!!! I know, I know as she said “exotic dancers need lovin’ too” but no. Just no.

In one of the scenes where Hannah is talking to Ali and Cory she is wearing a cowl neck tee similar to this Witness Women’s Cowl Neck Burn Out T-Shirt which by the way is $22!

Miss Ali Dee showed us some of her new clothing collection, which of course we will carry! “Bling is my signature color” – I love it. Lots of cute tees and accessories. Can’t wait! I felt bad that her show didn’t put more money in her pocket. It is a tough business for sure. But she rocked it, and on stage she wore some fringe boots. I bet she would love these new Corral Women’s Fringe Cowboy Boots!

We didn’t see much of Anna in this episode, but I bet we will next week. So what do you guys think…Angelo or Patrick? That’s the question of the day after this episode!

Ferrini Boots

I can’t decide which I love more, the adult or kid’s version of these Ferrini Sequin Diva boots. One thing I do know, if you have the adult version…your daughter will want a pair for herself! And if you start with a pair for your daughter, I am pretty sure you will end up with a pair for yourself in the end. In other words…you just need both!

Ferrini Women’s Diva Sequin Snake Print Cowboy Boots – Pink, Ferrini Girl’s Diva Sequin Snake Print Cowboy Boots – Pink

Personally, I think this mother/daughter book pair has mother’s day written all over it! Don’t you?

Wear It: Hello

Did you guys see the ACM Presents Lionel Richie & Friends in Concert that aired the other night? It was pretty amazing, sooooo many great performances. If you missed it, you can find all the performances in clips via YouTube. My favorite of the night by far was Jennifer Nettles (of Sugarland) with Lionel, performing Hello. Not only do I love her voice but I love her style, she always looks SUPER classy. Check out the performance first before we build an outfit for you.

What’d I tell you? I would not steer you wrong with a great, no, PHENOMENAL performance. And what did you think of that outfit of hers? CUTE! Right? She was rockin’ a cutout black top with black slacks. It doesn’t hurt if you have her body. ha! Ok, so here’s how I’d rock this same look, in the Langston’s way:

Derek Heart Women’s Crochet Back 2-Fer Tank Top
Aura from the Women at Wrangler ™ Instantly Slimming Stretch Pant

So, which was your favorite performance and/or outfit of the concert? Let us know!!

The Voice – a recap, and a special offer!

Instant Elimination!?!? Wow.

Up first is our girl RaeLynn. Let me warn you here, I am pretty sure this recap is going to start strong and finish snarkey. So hold on. RaeLynn did great. She is adorable and country and sweet and saucy and strong and all the things a budding country artist should be. In the rehearsal scene I paused my DVR, grabbed my iPad and pulled up these….

Little miss was wearing Corral Vintage Women’s Boots with Lizard Overlay – Chocolate/Black. On these recaps a lot of times I suggest a similar look, but on this one, you can get the exact boot. And how about getting a deal on it?

Use the code: voiceboots for 20% off those exact boots! (the corral boots listed above, item #599-WES-C2118). Offer good today only – so head over and order!!!

In the performance scene she wore some red and black boots similar in look to these Lane Boots Women’s ‘Margaret’ Cowboy Boots.

In the rehearsal scenes Christina had on a snap shirt that was similar to this Rough Stock Women’s Long Sleeve Western Plaid Snap Shirt. Oh wait…what? That was a dress!!??! Are you sure? It looked like a shirt and she just forgot pants. Anyway…

Jesse I thought had a good performance. I am not a huge Jesse fan, but I think he is one of the better ones on her team. And he was eliminated. What!?!? I was shocked. So was Adam, did you see his face?

Ok, so that leaves Ashley, Chris and Lindsey. Really?? Ashley is growing on me. I think she is growing as an artist and I like her more and more each week. She had a long flowy cardigan on during rehearsal. Her’s was sleeveless, but it was similar in feel to this Allison Brittney Women’s 3/4 Sleeve Flyaway Cardigan.

Ashley is now my pick from Team Christina. I, along with the other judges, am starting to see why Christina picked her. Chris? I am just not feeling him. I get the opera thing, but I just am not into him. And I know America loves and will save Lindsey tonight, but I am not feeling her either. How does tonight work? 2 get saved? One by America and one after a last ditch performance? I think Chris will go home, America will save Lindsey and Christina will save Ashley. Anyway, fashion…Lindsey wore white pants in the performance…well, they were white with a huge black stripe on the side. You could take some fabric paint to these Lucky Brand Women’s Colorful Sofia Capri jeans if you wanted…or just leave them plain white…they are very cute and super comfy. I just picked up a pair last week. I love them.

Ok, back to team Blake. I am not sure I can talk about Jordis. I love her. I have loved her since she was on Rockstar INXS. I wanted her to win. I am super sad that Blake sent her packing. She had depth and feeling and it showed when she sang. Clearly Adam didn’t agree with Blake either. Did you see him shaking his head!?! Me too Adam. Meee toooo. One thing about her performance…the set? What the? I guess he song was about abuse, I get that, but the bed frame with no mattress and the over turned chair? It was just odd.

Who else is on Team Blake, we talked about RaeLynn…so there is Erin and Jermaine. Erin is going home. I like her. I think her singing during rehearsal was a bit better than the show, but overall I like her. That yellow dress though? That was terrible. Awful. Jermaine did well. I loved that CeeLo said he looked sharp. He did look sharp, but coming from the man wearing the “Crime Scene” tee…I’m not sure it meant that much.

Do we need to talk about the judges performances? Blake’s team was adorable. Adam and Maroon 5 were great. That’s it right? Oh yea….Christina. I just can’t get away without talking about it huh? Ok, so the cowboy thing with Blake at the beginning was great. I love to see her engaging and joking with the judges since she can kind of be the odd man out sometimes. And her voice. She can belt it out like no other. I really do love her. But that outfit!??! She has a good body still, and I love to see her rock and flaunt it – but that was too much. It wasn’t flattering. If the bottom had even just been boy shorts, or a really short skirt it would have been better, but the full leotard was just not working, not anymore. Sorry – I just have to say it. Otherwise you guys would think I was blind.

So there it is. The recap. A bit light on fashion this week…but made up for with a great deal on a rocking pair of Corral boots! I will be back to update with tonight’s’ results before I hit publish for Wed….

Ok. I am back. I’m needing a second cup of coffee today to figure out this show. America saved Jermaine. I totally get that, but Chris? I don’t get that. Then Christina saved Lindsey…I kind of get that? And Blake saved Erin?? My rational on them sending Ashley and RaeLynn home is that they are young and the coaches think they can make it without the help of the show?? I just don’t know.

By the way, did you see Christina in stripes?!?! I know I know. I keep yelling that stripes are in, but they are! Striped shirts. Get one!

New Music Releases

Have you heard of the Mermaid Sessions by Billy Bragg and Wilco? If not, let me catch you up to speed…According to countrystandardtime.com:

When Woody Guthrie died in 1967 at 55, among his belongings were thousands of complete song lyrics for which he had not written out music or made recordings. Many were written in the 1940s and ’50s, in the Guthrie family home on Mermaid Avenue in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

I love that they are called the Mermaid Sessions after where the family home was located. Also, get this next part…

The lyrics remained in boxes for decades, but once his daughter Nora found them in the 1990s, she knew they had to be shared. She approached English singer-songwriter and activist Billy Bragg to select some to set to music. The Chicago rock band Wilco came aboard soon after, with Jeff Tweedy writing music – along with his late bandmate Jay Bennett on some songs – and the band recording with both Tweedy and Bragg on vocals.

I always think this is cool when things are found and people want to collaborate and pay tribute to someone great.

I’m definitely a Wilco fan, and I had NOT heard of the Mermaid Sessions before, so I’m very intrigued to listen to this collection. Come Saturday you will be able to check it out as well…all 48 tracks. Will you be checking it out?

Texas Women – Episode 2

Saturday night I wasn’t watching Texas Women. I was watching tornadoes form in Oklahoma. But…after watching it on my DVR, the two were actually pretty similar. I hate to start at the end, but how can you not? Brooke!??!?! You know I love you. And yes, that guy was totally out of line and he acted out first…but if you hit a cop (even by accident) and mouth off to one…you are going to jail. It just happens like that. But dang girl, you had some good hits in there!!!

Ok, back to the beginning and keeping my eye on fashion….

At Hannah’s birthday party she was wearing a striped skirt. You guys have seen this from me week after week this spring, stripes are in! Try this Derek Heart Women’s Striped 2-Layer Tank Top. For under $15, you really can’t go wrong with it.

It’s funny how girls can be. Both Hannah and Brooke thought the other one should have come up to say hi. Someone has to do it – but neither did. I know their relationship looks messy now, but I see them hugging it out in the near future.

After the party as they were walking into the loft, I caught a peak at one of the girl’s friend’s jeans and saw a black label. Not sure, but they looked like Rock and Roll Cowgirl Jeans to me.

Hannah is falling for one of the strippers who was at her party. Isn’t there a rule about that? Don’t fall for a stripper at a party? Sounds like a rule to me. Speaking of rules and wives tales, I have heard of “hair of the dog” for hangovers….but a tequila shot? That might be a bit much.

Let’s talk some classic western style with Ali’s boyfriend Cory. Denim snap shirt. Wrangler jeans. Classic.

Cory and Ali had a very stressful light bulb situation, followed later in the show with a stressful money talk in regard to her video. They handled both well. They are a cute couple and seem to both have their heads on straight. And of course…more denim. Ali had on some cut offs while washing the dog and talking music. These Levi’s ® Juniors Camp Shorts are similar to the ones she had on.

Anna’s bulls are on fire! I really haven’t seen that many bulls ride, but her’s look good. I was happy towards the end of the episode when she talked to those guys about leasing them out for practice. I am happy that she won’t have to give one up.

We got to see Brooke barrel race in this episode, as she said, “might not have won, but we looked the best.” Yes you did! Her pink shirt had a bit of green in it which she re-enforced with a green tee under it. Loved the color combo. This Wrangler Women’s Long Sleeve Solid Snap Western Shirt with Scroll Foil Designs would look great with a contrasting tee or tank like this Derek Heart Women’s Basic Tunic Tank Top under it.

Anna’s ranch manager had quite the scarf going on. I am just not sure how I felt about that look. Sorry – I just wasn’t feeling it. I am sure it was practical, but it didn’t thrill me. I also wasn’t thrilled with Hannah bringing a friend to the coffee meet up. It wasn’t helping the situation any. Speaking of not helping, I know Cicily is trying – but she isn’t helping either. And her over the top blue eye shadow in the last few scenes….yikes. I think she can do better. The blue shadow, the over the top headband and the huge personality – it was kind of a lot all at once. But I bet she is a ton of fun.

At coffee Brooke was wearing a loose weave sweater that reminded me of this Ya Ya Club Women’s Sweater Shrug. Different but similar.

In the cow milk scene one of the girl’s friends had on a see through stripped tee. This Cruel Girl Women’s LS Burnout Tee Shirt gives the same look but with dots verses stripes.

At the Stockyards Bar Hannah was rocking kind of a fringe poncho sweater. It wasn’t this Lucky Brand Women’s Indio Crochet Wrap Sweater but the two are somewhat in the same family.

Speaking in loose associations…follow me here. The print on Anna’s dress was totally Pendelton! I mean, look at this Pendleton Men’s Cody Vest.

One final note on the episode….Ali talked about needing an innocent look for her video. I am totally feeling a sundress/boots look for it. What about you? This Roper Women’s Sleeveless Floral Print Georgette Dress would work perfectly.

Let me know your thoughts on the episode! And of course on the fashion!

People Mag – Country Special

Did you guys check out the Country Special edition of People Magazine this month? A few things that caught my eye in it…
Sheer as a Spring Trend: dresses, scarfs and tees. Want to try out this look? Try this Cruel Girl Women’s LS Burnout Tee Shirt in Chocolate Raspberry.

In the all important Hot Guys sections: Trace Adkins in a dark henley. Such a great laid back look. In fact, they show Brad Paisley in one too. His is layered under a snap shirt. This Men’s Dickies Short Sleeve Solid Performance Henley is a great option for Spring since it is short sleeve.

Tour Essentials: I could hang with any of these tours. Did you see this section? Darius Rucker likes to have flavored tootsie rolls on tour, Craig Campbell needs vanilla coffee creamer on hand and Reba packs her iPad. I could hang with any of these tours!

Nashville Style: I loved the picture of Faith they used in this section. Her solid button up is classic and perfect on her. Need to add one to your closet? Try this Cruel Girl Women’s Solid Western Button Down Shirt available in several colors!

I love when magazines put out their Country Editions. Well done People!

Wear It: Blackbird

Everybody is a fan of this song right? First you need to check out Sarah Darling’s countrified version. While you are tuned in, check out some of her outfits in this video. Super cute!!

All of them are cute, am I right? I decided to do a little combo of the two casual outfits. I’m loving the stripes she’s wearing. And I’m also loving that huge flower ring she’s wearing in her other casual outfit. So it’s our first Langston’s mashup!!

Derek Heart Women’s Navy Stripe Tee Shirt
Ariat Women’s Double Trouble Boyfriend Jeans
Kender West Women’s Rose Ring with Crystals – Pink/Red

Let me just tell you something about that Derek Heart tee…the shape and swing to it are FABULOUS. I’d put a tight fitting tank underneath and let the tee swing. I’d put a pair of flip-flops with this outfit for sure and you should go check out our Justin line of flip flops, just take your pick.

So tell me, would you Wear It?

The Voice – A fashion recap

Time for another fashion-y recap of The Voice. Let’s start with the judges.

The tee Adam rocked was a plain black polo type shirt, but around here we like to add some details sometimes. Try this Rock & Roll Cowboy Men’s Short Sleeve Knit Polo Shirt for a similar, but different look.

Adam made fun of Blake’s look for the night saying he was wearing the color of well, you know. But I disagree. A classic brown jacket pairs with anything and Blake always looks sharp! Those 2 have a total bromance going on. I love it. They tease each other but are clearly close friends. This Pendleton Men’s Buffalo Hide Leather Jacket creates the same basic look that Blake had.

I have a hard time recreating Christina and CeeLo for this blog. We just don’t carry many red satin suits like CeeLo wears, but maybe this red Rockmount Vintage Shirt would work for him. As for Xtina, her look last night was on the money as far as current trends. Stripes are all over the place. Check out these Derek Heart Striped Tees to add some stripes into your closet.

Team CeeLo:

First off, I was glad to see that the rental cat is back. I would hate for that feline to have been put out of a job!

Chessa – I was not feeling her performance look at all. At all. She looked like a bad version of a flight attendant. I did like how she paired a denim shirt with colored jeans during rehearsals. This Lucky Brand Women’s Sabrina Denim Jacket would look great with a white of black tank under it and bright pink or coral jeans.

James – I have nothing here. I just don’t get him. Maybe I am just too old. All the girls in the crowd were loving him. To me he was goofy and didn’t sound great at all. And he was wearing a headband. I am sorry. I was just not into him. He’s my pick to go home. But I know America will push him though.

Juliet – oh Juliet. She rocked it. I don’t think many people can rock the one arm fringe, but she did it. And more importantly, she did a great version of the song Roxanne. I know it seems impossible, but her shorts were shorter than these. These Levi’s ® Juniors Camp Shorts are a normal version of a short short. If you want to get her exact look from rehearsals, you need to go even shorter…please don’t.

Tony – his performance look was a black shirt with red piping detail. It made me think of this Rockmount Sugar Skull Western Shirt. He did well. He is still kind of theatrical for me, I’d love to see him on Broadway, but I’m not sure I want his CD in my car – you know?

Erin – well….ok. I mean, she did ok but she didn’t wow me. How many people go home tonight? 2? I think she will go. And Chessa. James should – but won’t.

Jamar – what a showman. I am not sure his singing voice is anything special, but he puts on a show and is fun. And he had guitar players on stilts! By the way, do you guys think Blake will give into the stage show anytime soon? It shows the difference between country music and other generas. Blake is all about the voice, the others want more a combo of voice and staging. Blake’s ideas seem more in line with the concept of the show – but I see where the other judges are coming from. If you are a pop singer, you have to sing, but you also need to be able to work the stage show.

Team Adorable…I mean Adam:

Katrina – She has a bit of an Adele vibe going on that I loved. I think she has a great voice. Christina said “I think your dress was restricting you some” HAHAHA. The pot calling the kettle black. I have no idea how Christina breaths in some of the stuff she wears, let along sings.

Tony – One thing about the judges, I think Christina is great. I love that she always has real and constructive criticism for the performers. But I think she was harsh with Tony! He is one of the better ones out there and she made it seem like he was just sailing in on the Micky Mouse Club boots strings. Not true. Tony showed that a pair of clean, dark finish jeans can look great with a blazer or jacket. These Lucky Brand Men’s 361 Vintage Straight Jeans can be dressed up or down.

Kim – Kim is another one with a good voice…but I could take it or leave it. I think she is great – but she doesn’t really excite me. I feel like I have seen it before…but maybe I am being too hard on her. In rehearsals she wore a fly-away cardigan. We have a few options you can check out for cardigans.

Mathai – Eh. I am not sure about her. Again, I wasn’t wowed. I didn’t even write any notes on her. Ouch. That mush mean I wasn’t feeling it.

Carla – Why can’t ever get a good look at her boots. These were tall and smooth. The closest match I could find are these Vintage Deer Knee High Boots by Corral. Whatever they were, they looked good with her sequined dress. In rehearsals she wore a pink/purple plaid shirt much like this Dickies Women’s Long Sleeve Plaid Flannel Western Button Down Shirt. I wasn’t feeling her either. I love Adam, but I guess I might have a tough time picking who should stay in his team. I think Carla is going home. Out of all the ones I have luke warm feelings for, she is the one that is he least warm.

Pip – it is hard to be rock and roll in a bow tie with a baby face. I am just saying…you have to really be strong and powerful and gritty to do that. He wasn’t. I think he is a good singer and could be fun to watch, but a rock god powerhouse…no. Did you notice his mom had a bow-tie necklace on? Too cute.

I’m stopping my recap here – today is Tuesday…but I will add results from tonight before I publish this for you guys Wed morning.

And now it’s Wed…who stayed and who was sent packing….

From Team Adam America saved Mathai (really?), Tony (Christina looked so bummed) and Pip (um…ok. Let’s see how that works out.) From Team CeeLo they saved Juliet (of course), Jamar (predicted) and James (I knew it. Ugh).

Adam saved Katrina. Good. She deserves to stay.CeeLo saved Chessa….I think. Or did Carson just cut him off mid-sentence and say it was Cheesa? That seemed odd to me. Seriously…CeeLo’s team is bugging me. Juliet is the only one I really like.

Let’s see…my front runners (the ones I personally like, not who I think will necessarily win)

Tony, Katrina, Juliet, Jordis. Wow, no one on Team Christina. Maybe someone will win me over next week. Your turn…who do you like?
