Today’s release is by Craig Morgan called This Ole Boy. This is Craig Morgan’s first album since 2008′s That’s Why and his 6th studio album. On this new album he co-produced it and also co-wrote 7 of the 12 songs on this album. I think the title of this album perfectly portrays the mood of the album…this is definitely a good ole boy vibe. Definitely a fun album!

If you haven’t heard the title track that’s out now, This Ole Boy…you should definitely go check out the video. It’s hilarious for sure and stars none other than Hollywood actress Angie Harmon.

These are the tracks you MUST listen to, you know aside from the title track itself: The Whole World Needs A Kitchen, Love Loves A Long Night, I Didn’t Drink.

Will you be checking out Craig Morgan’s latest? I will for sure be adding it to my playlist. What else are y’all listening to these days?

Have you heard of the upcoming movie “Act of Valor” that is coming out this weekend? Well if you haven’t, here’s how IMDB describes it:

An unprecedented blend of real-life heroism and original filmmaking, Act of Valor stars a group of active-duty Navy SEALs in a powerful story of contemporary global anti-terrorism. Inspired by true events, the film combines stunning combat sequences, up-to-the minute battlefield technology and heart-pumping emotion for the ultimate action adventure. Act of Valor takes audiences deep into the secretive world of the most elite, highly trained group of warriors in the modern world. When the rescue of a kidnapped CIA operative leads to the discovery of a deadly terrorist plot against the U.S., a team of SEALs is dispatched on a worldwide manhunt. As the valiant men of Bandito Platoon race to stop a coordinated attack that could kill and wound thousands of American civilians, they must balance their commitment to country, team and their families back home. Each time they accomplish their mission, a new piece of intelligence reveals another shocking twist to the deadly terror plot, which stretches from Chechnya to the Philippines and from Ukraine to Somalia. The widening operation sends the SEALs across the globe as they track the terrorist ring to the U.S.-Mexico border, where they engage in an epic firefight with an outcome that has potentially unimaginable consequences for the future of America. The soundtrack for the movie comes out today and it is made up of ALL country artists: Keith Urban, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, Jake Owen, Trace Adkins, Lori McKenna, Montgomery Gentry, Josh Kelly, Hunter Hayes, and Wynonna Judd. Fabulous lineup wouldn’t you say?

From first listen, they all sound awesome! My top three picks are “For You” by Keith Urban, “The Best I Can” by Jake Owen, “Two Soldiers Coming Home” by Lori McKenna and “Whatever Brings You Back” by Wynonna Judd.

A great new one is coming out today by Mr Dierks Bentley. It’s called Home. And it’s SEXAYYYY! There’s just something about Dierks Bentley…he’s got a great voice and can SANG a song if you know what I mean. This album would be a GREAT road trip listen…crank it up, roll the windows down and take a little drive.

A few collaborations on the album to take note of…Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild duets with Dierks on “When You Gonna Come Around.” And Dierks’ three-year old daughter Evie sings the final chorus of “Thinking Of You”.

Here are some definite must listens: Am I The Only One, Home, Tip It On Back, Breathe In, The Woods, Thinking of You….hell just go get the album–its GOOD. I mean I had to really keep myself from listing every song on the whole album as “must listens”. Trust me!

Will you be downloading this one? I will for sure! Tell me what else y’all are listening to these days!!

Our new one this week is Darrell Scott’s Long Ride Home. Honestly I’m not too familiar with Darrell Scott, so I decided to hunt down some info on him when I found out this album was coming out today. What I found out is that I AM familiar with him, or his songs rather…He’s written songs for Faith Hill, Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Martina McBride and Brad Paisley to name a few.

I also found this article on Folk Alley to be a rather haunting review of sorts for Long Ride Home.

After taking a listen to the album, I can definitely see how he has a relaxing tone to his voice such as Willie Nelson has. You should definitely check out Someday, Every Road Leads Back to You, and Still Got a Ways to Go from this album.

If you are interested in some great songwriting and great songs, go check this one out.

Two HUGE releases today folks! Emotional Traffic by Tim McGraw and 100 Proof by Kellie Pickler.

First Up, Kellie Pickler’s 100 Proof. The first thing I noticed about this album is the album cover. It reminds me of old record album covers. So I was not surprised when I started listening to this album and hearing so much traditional sounding country. The first song on the album as a matter of fact is called “Where’s Tammy Wynette”. Kellie definitely takes you back to traditional country roots with this one and there are some darn good songs on here. These are the ones I loved right away: “Tough”, “100 Proof”, “Mother’s Day”, and “Rockaway”. Go check this one out for sure.

Next up, Tim McGraw’s Emotional Traffic. This has been a long awaited release for sure. This is Tim’s last record with Curb Records after a 20 year partnership. Tim has been quoted as saying this is one of his best albums ever. We’ve featured some of the singles off this album but now having had a chance to listen to the whole album, these are the ones that I love from the album: “Right Back Atcha Babe”, “I Will Not Fall Down”, “Better Than I Used to Be”, and “Hey Now”. This is definitely a stand out album from Tim, go get it. Now.

New Music Releases

Ok, so I jumped the gun last week on the whole Tim McGraw album coming out today, it’s not coming out til next week. But we do have some singles that have been coming out teasing us. And they are definitely teasing us. I told you a little bit about this album at the beginning of the month.  Here are the releases so far:

Felt Good On My Lips
Better Than I Used to Be
Right Back Atcha Babe
The One that Got Away

I’m so looking forward to a brand new album from Tim McGraw, he’s definitely one of my favorites. If you haven’t seen him in concert before, you TOTALLY should. It will be one of the best concerts you’ll go to. There are just certain songs when sung in concert that will just give you goosebumps and you’ll remember for ever and Tim McGraw performs a few of those.

See you back here next week for my take on the new releases coming out next week!

Best of George Strait

Ok folks, no new music this week, but there’s definitely some new stuff next week and by some BIG NAMES *cough* TIM MCGRAW *cough*. Speaking of BIG NAMES, I have a little treat for you today. If you don’t have a collection of George Strait albums or are trying to figure out where to start, this album is IT. Best of George Strait features every single George Strait song you should familiarize yourself with. However, this album does only have 11 of his 600+ songs you can find on iTunes. So in addition to Best of George Strait, these are a few more that I’d download individually: Run, Carrying Your Love With Me, You Look So Good in Love, and my all time favorite George Strait song EVER Marina Del Rey.

What are y’all listening to right now? What are your favorite albums to listen to over and over again?

I’m definitely looking forward to next week’s new releases!!

New Music Releases

There will be lots of new albums this month but until then, I have a couple of singles that have been released that you definitely need to be aware of.

First up, my man Tim McGraw released “Better Than I Used to Be“. Let’s first just take a look at that picture above. Sigh. He’s still got it, am I right? Ok, now, on to the music…this song y’all totally reminds me of his early days. It’s definitely traditional country that sounds sort of George Strait-ish. Definitely get this one in your rotation.

Next up, Taylor Swift released a new single, “Safe & Sound” with The Civil Wars from the upcoming soundtrack to The Hunger Games. This song is a little bit of a different sound from the Taylor Swift you are used to. The iTunes summary describes it as Appalachian folk, and I think after listening to it, I totally agree.  It’s a departure from Taylor’s norm but I am definitely loving it.

So which one will you be putting on your iPod?

Country Christmas Music

Today is the last Country Christmas post before Christmas!! I saved the best for last!! George Strait’s “Merry Christmas Strait to You” is a definite must for your country Christmas song list. I’ve been listening to this album since at least ’93 and it has been around since ’86! There are classics and “new” songs on this album and all of them are FABULOUS! I mean you can never go wrong with George Strait and that holds true even for Christmas. I’m not even going to select my favs from this album because I can listen to them all equally as much. Though if you want to know what it’s like for us folks that live in Texas, just have a listen to “When it’s Christmas time in Texas”.

I hope everyone has a fantastic and very Merry Christmas! I’ll be back next week with some New Year’s music for you and then we start the new year off with some NEW MUSIC!
