Willie Nelson has a new album out today called Let’s Face the Music and Dance. Willie never lets us down with his new release year after year. This year he turns 80 and is in his 6th decade of recording. If you are a true Willie Nelson fan, you won’t be disappointed by this album. This is the same great Willie sound you are used to mixed with remakes of old songs written by Irving Berlin, Carl Perkins, Frank Loesser and Django Reinhart, and one of his own songs, “Is The Better Part Over.” In addition there are a couple of instrumental songs.
Listen to his own remake of Is the Better Part Over, South of the Border and Walking My Baby Back Home.
I honestly never get tired of listening to Willie Nelson…I have so many of his albums and there is nothing better than turning up a little Willie Nelson for the drive home at the end of a tired day.
We have some new releases out this week that I can’t wait to tell you about. First up, Brad Paisley has a new album out today called Wheelhouse. You can get the regular album which has 17 tracks or the deluxe version that has 21! I mean WOW! That’s a lot of music! This is Brad’s 7th studio album and he’s produced it himself. Check out “I Can’t Change the World” and “Karate” for sure.
Next is an EP by Chuck Wicks…I believe the last time we saw Chuck he was on Dancing with the Stars with his then girlfriend Julianne Hough. He’s got some great songs on this EP! Check out “Salt Life” and “Fix Me”.
And lastly, I have the latest track from the Nashville cast. Lennon Stella and Maisy Stella who play Connie Britton’s daughters on the shower did an absolutely impeccable version of The Lumineer’s Ho Hey. Those little girls are AMAZING. Definitely have a listen to that one!
We’ve got a new album coming out today that I’m gonna tell you about but I also want to include some music that came out recently that if you aren’t listening to it you need to be!
First up, The Band Perry has a new album out today called Pioneer. You already know one single off this album, Better Dig Two. This is The Band Perry’s second album and they co-wrote 9 of the 12 songs. Check out Back to Me Without You and Chainsaw.
Another album you absolutely need to be aware of is Kacey Musgraves’ Same Trailer Different Park. I touched on this album a bit with the last Wear It post, but you for sure need to get this into your rotation. Listen to Blowin’ Smoke, Step Off, and Silver Lining. This whole album is PHENOMENAL.
The last bit of music I want you to be aware of is a single off the show Nashville. It’s called Stronger than Me and it’s sung by Connie Britton. She does a GREAT job on this song. It’s definitely a must listen.
Have you seen Toby Keith’s latest video, Hope On The Rocks? Really love the song…it takes me back to the kind of songs he did on his first album. Check it out…
See what I mean about the song being reminiscent of his early days? That was a dang good album. So let’s discuss Toby’s outfit in this video, which by the way I love how he plays a character in this video. His outfit is just your every day normal casual outfit and yet it looks very put together. So let’s put one together via Langston’s!
Are you as addicted to Pinterest as I still am? I love that right now my feed is exploding with pics of weddings and babies…and both featuring boots! Of course right now it is all Easter Eggs and spring break crafts.
I have seen a few ideas for adding designs to eggs – use rubber bands or drizzle on rubber cement before dying – or even stickers that you peel off after dying. Love these ideas. Some pins suggest putting an egg in a wisk and using that to lower it into the dye. So smart!
There are gobs of pins out there for sweet treats. I think this Easter bark is calling my name!
Blake Shelton has a new album out today called Based on a True Story. This new album comes right on the heels of last night’s season premiere of The Voice. Blake Shelton, three-time CMA Male Vocalist of the Year and current Entertainer of the Year, is a busy guy! There are twelve tracks on this album and of course his wife Miranda Lambert and her band The Pistol Annies make an appearance as do some of this other TEAM BLAKE contestants from past seasons of The Voice. There are plenty of upbeat songs as well as ballads.
These are my must listens: Country on the Radio, Mine Would Be You, and I Found Someone.
I’ve Still Got a Finger is PURE Blake humor, so you must listen to that one! And of course his current single Sure Be Cool If You Did is already a hit. So have a listen and tell me which of the songs on this album are your favorites, it was definitely a tough decision picking out just three!
Seriously, could Blake and Miranda be any more adorable?? The Country Issue of People Mag has features on both of them in it. My favorite part of the piece on Blake is the “If Blake Ruled the World” part. Men in flip flops be ware, Blake wants to end it. He says you can’t help in an emergency in flip flops. He also wants to make tattoos, especially his won, more manly and isn’t a fan of skinny jeans.
As for Miranda, in her downtime she is manning the soda fountain counter in her new boutique in Tishamingo, Oklahoma. She even suggests that you can kick you your favorite ice cream soda with a splash of vodka or baileys!
Have yall heard of Kacey Musgraves? If you haven’t you need to go and buy her album that came out Tuesday IMMEDIATELY. She’s a fantastic songwriter and she’s getting a lot of props from big names like Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry. So I wanted to feature her here on Wear It because I saw an acoustic version of her latest single on Vevo and she’s got some pretty fantastic style too. Check it out….
I’m going to do a different kind of New Music post today. George Strait’s Cowboy Rides Away tour is in full swing and he came through Houston for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo on Sunday night. Let me tell you, these tickets were hard to come by and we were in the nosebleeds but we were not going to miss his show on his last year of touring. I’ve been going to see George Strait at the rodeo since I was a kid, it just wouldn’t be the same if there were no George Strait at the Houston Rodeo. As you can imagine there are tons of people with the same thing on their mind, 80,000 people actually–setting a new attendance record! As you can imagine there was a lot of walking going on to get through the Reliant Center and Stadium and I decided to wear my Pecos Bill Turquoise boots from Langston’s for the first time. I thought it was probably nuts to wear some boots I’d never worn before when I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking, but I went ahead and went with it and thought I’d tough it out. Tough it out I did not because they are THE MOST COMFORTABLE boots I own–just as comfortable as my trusty Luccheses. If you are looking for some CUTE AND COMFORTABLE boots you can not go wrong with these. I got many compliments on them!! In addition to my Pecos Bill boots, George Strait did not disappoint either performing lots of his oldies but goodies and new stuff also.
In addition to his performance on Sunday, George Strait also announced his upcoming 40th album will be released on May 14th and called Love is Everything. We’ll talk more about that album around that date, I can’t wait!!
