Men’s boots

I get asked a lot of times about good “starter” boots. The one pair of boots any/every man should own. If you aren’t used to wearing boots, a pointy toe might be a tough transition for you. I tend to recommend a squared off toe instead.

These 3 Ariat boots are all great options in my opinion. They work well with jeans for a day to day look. You can pair them with a sweater in the winter and a tee in the summer.

Ariat Men’s Hotwire 13″ Cowboy Boots

Ariat Men’s Heritage Reinsman 11″ Cowboy Boots

These next ones look more like a work boot, but they work really well as a daily boot – in the office or out in the yard.

Ariat® Men’s Rambler Boots

If you do want a dressier boot, these Stetson Men’s Handmade Distressed Eagle Underlay Cowboy Boots are gorgeous!

These Corral Men’s Distressed Black Boots with Gold Wings and Silver Crosses are amazing too.

Hope this helps for those of you looking for a new pair of boots! Let me know what your favorite boots are…I’d love to hear.

Blame it on the rain

Every year the first spring rainstorm catches me off guard.Same with the first fall rain. Not this year. I am picking up some of these Western Chief Women’s Boho Floral Rubber Boots to have on hand for any rainy days.

The cotton lining on these makes them warm and cozy without setting your feet on fire. Personally, I am a fan of skinny jeans with rain boots. I just like to stay as dry as I can! I also like to find some fun socks to hide under my boots.

These Ariat Women’s Paisley Knee High Socks are one of my favorites.

Willie Nelson has a new album out today entitled “Heroes”, and he doesn’t disappoint. If you are a true Willie fan, you’ll love a ton of these songs. His son, Lukas Nelson, cowrote and performs with him on many of the songs. Lukas sounds very much like his father and compliments the songs perfectly.

As always, Willie Nelson duets with some big names and is not afraid to cover popular songs. You’ll see Willie’s rendition of Coldplay’s The Scientist on this album. And you’ll also hear Snoop Dogg, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, Sheryl Crow, Jamey Johnson, Billy Joe Shaver and Ray Price on this album.

My favorites after first listen are The Scientist, A Horse Called Music, My Window Faces the South.

At 79, Willie Nelson shows no signs of slowing down and I like it! It’s also a great introduction to his son Lukas and his sound.

What are you listening to? Will you be checking out this Willie album?

Color

Colored denim and colored pants of all sorts are all over the place right now. It is a super hot trend that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. These Lucky Brand Women’s Colorful Sofia Capris are right on target.

A lot of people ask about wearing colored pants. How? What do I wear on top? It’s easy you guys. They are a basic. Pair them the way you would a pair of tan pants or jeans. They really are as simple as that. These red ones would be great with blue and white stripes for a nautical look, or pair them with a plain white, black or blue tee and then accent with a fun necklace. Dress them up with a black blouse and black heels, or down with flip flops and a tank. I promise, you will wear them just as much as any other pant in your closet!

The Voice – Season Finale

So…what happens here if I write a recap with no western wear in it? I am pretty sure my boss would frown on that huh? This episode is a bit hard to tie into the store.

Jermain. He is my number 2 guy. He has a great voice and great style. I love the relationship he has with Blake and really, overall I like him.

Juliet. She is kind of a hot mess. My love for her isn’t as strong as it was. I loved when she did Roxanne and Cryin’ in weeks prior, but I wasn’t really feeling her this week. And what’s the deal with the ever changing hair color? Her dress for Free Bird was kind or orange and flowy and dramatic. These Ariat Women’s Outlaw 11″ Square Toe Boots – Chico Brown/Bronze Dazzle Boots are dramatic and orange…maybe? I told you. It’s a hard episode to tie into fashion. Overall, I am ok with her, but I am not voting for her.

In the other 2 performances she had a black and gold theme going on. 2 different looks but both were in that vein. These Ferrini Women’s Floral Lace Cowboy Boots would have fit right in.

Chris. Oh my god make him go away. I know, I know…he has a great voice. But he has a great opera voice. I am just not into it. The duet with Christina? That dress? Seriously you guys, I love her voice and her outside of the show, but  her bad attitude towards Tony and Adam just annoys me. As far as the dress…it was not good on her.

Tony Lucca. No lie, I downloaded his version of 99 Problems today. He is my pick. He has my vote. I loved all three songs he did last night. That Maroon 5 song is tough to sing and he did great. It can be debated by anyone and everyone, but he and Adam were completely calling Christina out with their song pick. And I loved it. She has been hard on Tony all season. She deserved it!

Ok. Light on the fashion, heavy on the drama. I can’t wait to see what happens tonight! Go Tony!!!!!

I am siting here sipping my morning coffee wondering what to write about last nights finale. Tony lost. Not only did he lose but he wasn’t even 2nd place. But…I did get to hear him sing with Jordis which I liked. Lady A was great as usual. RaeLynn was sassy and fun as usual. And all in all I think Jermain was a good pick and am happy for him. One question for you guys….why was Christina in a leotard (again) when not performing? Is this a fashion trend I am unaware of? Leotards for no reason?

My pick didn’t win…second season in a row. Maybe next season I’ll pick the winner!

Back in 2001, Pat Green in conjunction with Cory Morrow put out an album called Songs We Wish We’d Written. It was a collection of all kinds of songs that meant something to them. Now in 2012, Pat Green green is doing the second edition of the album, minus the collaboration with Cory Morrow. It’s called Songs We Wish We’d Written II, it comes out today and you don’t want to miss it.

Let me just throw out some writers of some of the tracks on this album to name a few: Tom Petty, Collective Soul’s Ed Roland, Walt Wilkins, Joe Ely, Lyle Lovett, Shelby Lynne. I’m telling you, it’s good stuff. Now, while Cory Morrow didn’t collaborate on the album as a whole, he does help out with one of the songs as do Monte Montgomery and Jack Ingram.

After taking a listen, my favorites would have to be All Just to Get to You, Jesus On a Greyhound, and Soulshine. Soulshine has got a definite bluesy vibe that I’m absolutely loving.

What else are y’all listening to?

Brooke Jeter and a Giveaway!

You guys know I am a fan of CMT’s show Texas Women. The girls crack me up. They are each so different and unique, yet I can relate to each of them. When Brooke took a look at our site she immediately fell in love with the Old Gringo boots. They are top on my list as well. Well made, stylish, classic yet edgy – they are amazing. Then she told me that Lucky jeans are one of her favorites because they fit her so well….and I am the exact same. They are my go to jean. I knew I loved Brooke. Now I just need to get her and Ali to come hang out in OKC with me! Brooke and I decided it would be fun to share the love and give one of you a pair of Old Gringo Boots!

Texas Women- Episode 5

In one of the very first scenes this week Brooke has on some red, black and white boots. They instantly made me think of these Lane ‘Margaret’ Cowboy Boots. Focusing on the boots helped me to glaze over during the um…”advice” talk. I am all for girl talk, but nationally televised girl talk? Let’s just say I was glad I wasn’t watching this weeks show with my dad or grandma or anyone!

Speaking of miss Brooke…..check back here tomorrow. We teamed up with her for a fun giveaway!!!!

As for the rest of the episode, Brooke and Jason enjoyed their new advice and gifts. So that’s good. The yoga vs karate scene was cracking me up. Love how CMT kept going back and forth between the two. You have to love that couple. They have lots of spunk and character.

The Hannah, Anna, Ali stuff was odd. I totally get Anna’s point that Hannah is a model and needs to take jobs…but you don’t see one model typically posing for 2 competing brands. So I do think it was odd. That said, she was gorgeous in that headdress! You know I am all about loose associations on here, what can I say, I try. Anyway, Hannah is Choctaw, this shirt has an Aztec print…yea, not even close. But check out this Wrangler Women’s Aztec Print Tank Top anyway.

Anna ended up doing really well with the modeling. It took her a while to get into it, but I think that is to be expected. Can’t wait to see the flip flops she designed. I had no idea about her stroke. How scary! Until her flip flops come out, check out these Justin Women’s Misty Calf Hair Flip Flops with Three Rhinestone Conchos.

Cory was so sweet helping Ali prepare for her new job. He is so level headed and has great advice. I loved how he helped Ali deal with the Hannah thing. He didn’t feed into it and make it bigger, but he also didn’t just dismiss her feelings. He is a good one Ali. Keep him around! I also loved that Ali wanted to know her job. She wasn’t willing to just fake it. When she got advice from the producer about where to stand and what to do, she said “I’ll make it better next time.” She is a classy girl. As far as fashion, I think I spied some embellished pockets when she was outside talking to the girls. These Rock and Roll Cowgirl Women’s Low Rise Skinny Jeans with Nail Head Flaps are a close match.

And I am pretty sure I noticed some Cinch Black Label Relaxed Fit Jeans on Cory.

That’s the recap for this week. I am posting today because tomorrow is GIVEAWAY DAY! Check back here for the what and how.
