New Music Releases

Our new one this week is Darrell Scott’s Long Ride Home. Honestly I’m not too familiar with Darrell Scott, so I decided to hunt down some info on him when I found out this album was coming out today. What I found out is that I AM familiar with him, or his songs rather…He’s written songs for Faith Hill, Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Martina McBride and Brad Paisley to name a few.

I also found this article on Folk Alley to be a rather haunting review of sorts for Long Ride Home.

After taking a listen to the album, I can definitely see how he has a relaxing tone to his voice such as Willie Nelson has. You should definitely check out Someday, Every Road Leads Back to You, and Still Got a Ways to Go from this album.

If you are interested in some great songwriting and great songs, go check this one out.

What he wore

I was sitting here trying to decide what to write abut this week and I looked over and saw this….

These are my husbands new boots. H has been wearing them more days than not. They are the Ariat Rambler Cowboy Boot. There are a lot of reasons that this is a great go-to daily boot. It is rugged and tough…but not too much so. It still has clean lines and structure to it. He works in a casual office, so he needs some of that. But, he wears jeans daily, so he needs a boot that is casual and not too dressy. The shorter vamp and square toe make these boots extremely easy to wear and comfortable. Plus these boots have ATS technology which gives three times the support of normal cowboy boots. The Ariat Rambler’s EVA footbed and forefoot cushion gel reduces stress on hips, knees and back. Seriously, these are a great casual boots to wear daily…out tending to horses or inside pushing papers.

You might ask what he wears them with?!?!

Right now these Rock and Roll Cowboy Slim Fit Boot Cut Jeans top the rotation.

As far as shirts -the closet has plenty of plaid buttons downs hanging in it. My current favorite to see him in is this Lucky Men’s Camino Plaid Shirt. I love the detail on the pockets with the double snap.

Winner

Thanks everyone who entered to win an Ali Dee T-shirt. We love supporting our friends in the country western community and we love that you guys love Ali as much as we do.

Melissa is our winner! Look for an e-mail from me Melissa.

Melissa’s comment told us that this is her tee pick…

Great pick Melissa! I would layer it under a denim shirt this winter letting the lettering show through. In the summer, pair it with boots and a denim skirt for sure!

CBR and a Giveaway!

Did you see that our friend Ali Dee is joining the Championship Bull Riding team? From the CBR website“Ali joins the team of Tuff Hedeman, Butch Knowles and Jeff Medders on the CBR show to air on Fox Sports Network (FSN) in May. In addition, Ali will host the audience at the CINCH CBR Tour “Road to Cheyenne” live events…” Congrats to Ali!

And….did you hear that Season 2 of Texas Women is a go!?! I hadn’t seen the news posted yet, but that same article says so! “In addition to taping the second season of CMT’s Texas Women, Ali Dee is also a recording artist with a newly released debut single ”World’s Gone Crazy” and is currently working on a debut album.” I can’t wait to see all the girls back for another season. I am ready to tweet and blog up a storm about their fashion choices!

Ali has some great tees up on her site…and because she is super sweet and generous….she is giving one away to one of you! Leave a comment on this post to be entered to win an Ali Dee shirt of your choice. I think my pick would be this one…

Or maybe this one…

Or if I wanted to be sweet and pick one for my hubs…

You can see all the tees on Ali’s site HERE.  So take a look and then leave a comment here on this post telling me which one you would pick if you won. Entries open through Thursday (1/26/2012) night. Winner will be picked on Friday morning.

New Music Releases

Two HUGE releases today folks! Emotional Traffic by Tim McGraw and 100 Proof by Kellie Pickler.

First Up, Kellie Pickler’s 100 Proof. The first thing I noticed about this album is the album cover. It reminds me of old record album covers. So I was not surprised when I started listening to this album and hearing so much traditional sounding country. The first song on the album as a matter of fact is called “Where’s Tammy Wynette”. Kellie definitely takes you back to traditional country roots with this one and there are some darn good songs on here. These are the ones I loved right away: “Tough”, “100 Proof”, “Mother’s Day”, and “Rockaway”. Go check this one out for sure.

Next up, Tim McGraw’s Emotional Traffic. This has been a long awaited release for sure. This is Tim’s last record with Curb Records after a 20 year partnership. Tim has been quoted as saying this is one of his best albums ever. We’ve featured some of the singles off this album but now having had a chance to listen to the whole album, these are the ones that I love from the album: “Right Back Atcha Babe”, “I Will Not Fall Down”, “Better Than I Used to Be”, and “Hey Now”. This is definitely a stand out album from Tim, go get it. Now.

Soul 2 Soul

Have you guys tried these new fragrances?

According to the website, the one created by Faith for women is “…timeless sophistication intertwined with the classic romance Faith and Tim represent.” The one by Tim for men is “…modern confidence balanced with the classic romance Tim and Faith represent.” What do you think of them? This is not the first fragrance collaboration for either of them, but it is the first done together as a pair of fragrances. Who do you think should be next? Tom and Katie? Gwen and Gavin?

Wear It: You Gonna Fly

Keith Urban came out with a new video this week, You Gonna Fly. It’s a concert montage type of video, which I always enjoy, specifically from Keith Urban. I’ll tell you why… I’ve been to a Keith Urban concert and he puts on the best. concert. ever. If you weren’t a fan going into the concert, you will be coming out. He generally likes to throw caution to the wind and walk out into the crowd and just play his music with all that energy around him. Here check out the video:

So let’s get talking about Keith Urban’s style. It’s super casual, always jeans and t-shirts. Here’s how I’d formulate a Langston’s style Keith Urban outfit. You can obviously change up the color tee and color of the boot, but I’d definitely say this is Keith’s “uniform”.

Men’s Dickies Short Sleeve Solid Performance Henley
Rock and Roll Cowboy Men’s Slim Fit Boot Cut Pistol Jeans with Heavy Stitching
Dingo Men’s Dean 11″ Harness Boots – Black

So what do you think? Would you rock this look?

The Perfect Fit

I read an article in the Feb issue of Lucky Magazine about finding jeans with the perfect fit. Their tips were too perfect not to share with you guys.

Know your body type. If you are thick around the middle, try a trouser jean. Pear shaped? Try Boot Cut.

Don’t take “boyfriend” too literally. The main point here was that yes, they should be loose and comfy, but not sloppy. They still need to fit you.

Take color into account. Dark is slimming. Look at the wash and the location of the fading and ticking.

Don’t go too low. This tip was interesting to me. It said that anything lower than 3 inches below your navel and you will create a muffin top on just about anyone.

Buy them a bit tight. All jeans stretch a little – even true fit ones.

And when you find the perfect pair…BUY TWO! I know this all too well. My favorite pair has been discontinued and I mourn their loss weekly!

For the full article, check out this month’s issue of Lucky Magazine.

Speaking of the loss of my favorite jean, I have been in an all out search to replace them. I was looking for a low rise, easy fit, slight boot cut. I want them for weekend wear with flats and my favorite converse sneakers.Last week I tried out the Southside Charlie Baby Boot.

First off, I love the feel of these. They are soft and on the thinner side. Not too thin, just a bit more soft and moveable than a rigid denim. The baby boot is perfect for flats and tennis shoes. So far so good. I still miss my favorite pair, but these might slide into place as my new go to casual weekend wear jean.

New Music Releases

Ok, so I jumped the gun last week on the whole Tim McGraw album coming out today, it’s not coming out til next week. But we do have some singles that have been coming out teasing us. And they are definitely teasing us. I told you a little bit about this album at the beginning of the month.  Here are the releases so far:

Felt Good On My Lips
Better Than I Used to Be
Right Back Atcha Babe
The One that Got Away

I’m so looking forward to a brand new album from Tim McGraw, he’s definitely one of my favorites. If you haven’t seen him in concert before, you TOTALLY should. It will be one of the best concerts you’ll go to. There are just certain songs when sung in concert that will just give you goosebumps and you’ll remember for ever and Tim McGraw performs a few of those.

See you back here next week for my take on the new releases coming out next week!
