New Music Releases

Barefoot Blue Jean Night is Jake Owen’s 3rd album and the title track has already become a hit for him! This album has less of Jake Owen’s songwriting but more of an intimate feel.  Jake decided that his last two albums left him feeling the need to showcase more of a personal sound, so he changed up producers (*cough* Tony Brown *cough*) to make it happen.

Jake has a quote on his wall in his Nashville home that epitomizes his reasons for fighting for what he wants:

“You’ve got to care about the music…You’d better not be doing it for the publicity, the fame or the money. And you’d sure better not be doing it because it’s a way to make a living, ’cause that ain’t always going to be easy. You got to believe it, believe in the music. You got to mean it.” — Waylon Jennings

So go check out Jake Owen’s latest.  My picks for songs to pay attention to are: “Anywhere With You”, “Wide Awake”, and “The One That Got Away”.

And just remember…it’s rumored that Jake is the inspiration for Taylor Swift’s “Sparks Fly”.  And who could argue with the line “I see sparks fly whenever you smile” after getting a good long look at Mr Jake Owen.  Who is with me ladies? He’s definitely easy on the eyes, you can scroll back up and take a gander again, don’t be embarrassed.

A plain, white button down shirt can be worn so many ways for countless looks…

This is a great casual look that can be with jeggings or cotton leggings. Leave the shirt out and belt over it to get a defined waist and a polished look.

Here I showed some stars, red boots would be a great pick too. Since I went with black and white boots, I added this ring for a pop of color.

Nine as in Nancy

There was no way I wasn’t using that as the post title today. If you watched Texas Women last night you heard Hannah use this line while trying to give her credit card to the florist. That lady was just not getting it. Too funny. Let’s just start there with the recap and jump around some shall we?

I thought Hannah deciding not to go was a good call. She said she didn’t want to make the party about her by going and having some sort of drama happen. I think sending flowers was totally sweet and nice. Speaking of the anniversary party, I loved both Brooke’s sort of studded top and Ali Dee’s floral dress. I can’t really tie them to anything in the store right now…but on with the recap anyway!

I was so sad for Anna and her missing dog. About halfway through the search I turned to my husband and said, “if that dog shows up right now, I am going to think some CMT intern had her and that this was all for show.” Then I saw how upset Anna was, and I kind of wished the intern thing was true, but of course it wasn’t and her sweet dog is gone. Sad. Not to turn and make this about fashion, but come on, you are on a western wear fashion blog – I think Anna was wearing Miss Me jeans on her search mission. They were a flap pocket jean similar to any of these Miss Me Jeans.

Brooke did a little anniversary shopping in this episode. She wanted to stay under $10,000. That budget sounds nice, but mine is more in the $25 range. Lucky for me we had a TON of new stuff hit the shelves this week.  Two of my favs…

This Turquoise and Silver necklace by Cindy Smith seems so Anna to me. Love it.

And I could totally see Ali Dee (does anyone else always call her Ali Dee? I never just say Ali) in this four strand necklace also by Cindy Smith.

Hannah’s parents came to town. She mentioned a while back that they live in Edmond which is north OKC, so they are in our neck of the woods. Her little sister was rocking some boots that looked to be these Ariat Legend Square Toe ones.

Best line in the entire show, well, besides the “Nine as in Nancy” one… Hannah was asking her dad if he was proud of her for following her dreams. His answer, “Ride her till she bucks you.” Solid advice.

The Pioneer Woman’s Food Network show has a premiere date…and it is tomorrow!!

Do you guys read Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond? Her step by step recipes are to die for…and the pictures she takes of them are amazing. She lives in Oklahoma on a ranch in Pawhuska.  And…she now has a show on the Food Network!

10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, on the Food Network.

By the way, I know this shirt is not exact, but it is kind of close to the one she is wearing in that picture. AK and I both own one and love it. It is great with white jeans for Summer, yet will also work well with darker jeans and boots for Fall.

Blake Shelton is definitely one of our favorites!  Especially after we all became addicted to The Voice around here. Don’t you think he’s a cutie patootie? Ok Ok I’ll stop!  But let’s get to his duds in the Honey Bee video shall we?

Back in June we told you about the new song, Hell on Heels, from new girl trio Pistol Annies, available for download. Well you guys I am here today to tell you that the whole Pistol Annies album is out today!! YIPPEE!

Pistol Annies is the trio consisting of Miranda Lambert “Lonestar Annie”, Ashley Monroe “Hippie Annie” and Angeleena Presley “Holler Annie”. They all hail from the eastern side of their home states, Miranda from East Texas, Ashley from East Tennessee, and Angeleena from East Kentucky.  Miranda and Ashley met because they were label mates on Sony Records.  Ashley began writing with Angeleena a few years ago and introduced her to Miranda.  Apparently a late night phone call instigated the forming of the trio and we all get to benefit!!

As you know Hell on Heels is their latest single but here are a few more songs you will definitely want to go check out now: “Bad Example”, “Housewife’s Prayer”, and “Boys from the South”.

Not the numerology that will tell you your future or your personality type, this is Levi’s numerology. Have you ever wondered about their secret codes? Well, for one, even sizes are women’s and odd sizes are junior’s. That is for all clothes and brands, not just Levi’s. That bit of info was like a light shining into a room for me. Was I the only one who had no idea about that? Anyway, back to Levi’s specific numbering. Our Levi’s Numerology page is your guide.

What do I need for fall….Bootcut, straight leg, jegging and skinny please. About 10 men just rolled their eyes at me. But each jean serves a purpose for me. Jeggings are great under my boots with big comfy sweaters. I wear my skinnies with heels for a night on the town. Boot cut are a great anytime look for when I want to rock my cowboy boots, and my straight leg are for those days when I want to wear simple flats. See…they are all needed!!

Guys need more than one too! At least 2…bootcut and straight leg. You guys can skip the jeggings…please. Please!

Did you guys watch Texas Women last night? I have to say, I laughed out loud at several moments. Hannah giving lip to Brooke made me crack up. I know a lot of it is editing, but still, hating on her shorts and her horses made me laugh. Hannah and Brooke needs some serious couples therapy. I think we can skip the recap on taking a, um, sample from the bulls right? Let’s move right on into Anna and the cowboy….

That guy trying to date Anna? Where do I start!?!?!? I hate date bets. Go out with me if I do this. Bleh. So cheesy. Before we get to the date, boots. I think he was wearing Justin Tekno Crepe boots – not the patch work ones he rode in, the ones he took off to put those on. They looked like this…

Ok. They didn’t look exactly like different colors. But they were Ostrich and they looked like Justin to me. By the way, the Tekno Crepe is pretty cool – they are more flexible than other boots and therefore more comfortable. The date…oh the date. It was so painful to watch. Anna saying that it felt like she was on a date with her younger brother….ouch. Also not a good sign if you are singing to a girl and she is guzzling her wine. Best line ever…”sister isn’t wearing any socks, but even if I was, they wouldn’t have been knocked off.”  The dress she was rocking was pretty hot….to hot for that bad date!

Both Hannah and Anna sported some military style hats in this episode. The Radar Cap by Cruel Girl is pretty close in style to the ones they both wore.

Miss Ali Dee got herself a producer! Yea!! Good old Pappy. He seems like a good guy and that he will help her succeed. During her recording session she had on a ruffled plaid shirt with a big leather belt. Her shirt was sleeveless, but here is a long sleeve option by Panhandle Slim. Their Women’s Long Sleeve Plaid Dress with Rhinestones in Red could be worn over jeggings and belted for a similar look.

Since we did a girl outfit last week with Martina McBride’s Teenage Daughters, I thought we’d head on over to the men’s section this week.  

Today we are spotlighting Remind Me, the duet between Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood on Brad’s latest album.  Now, while I’d love to have Carrie’s dress, shoes, earrings and legs (if I’m being honest), we are gonna send the love Brad’s way and deconstruct his outfit.
