The Voice

Another great episode last night. I had to flip between it and the Thunder/Mavs game, but I caught most of it. We are located in OKC, so the Thunder has my vote to win, but lots of our vendors are in Dallas…so either way, win or lose, it is a great series to watch! Ok, on to music and fashion…

In the rehearsals, both Tje and Angela rocked denim vests. And did you see one of the girls on Christina’s team wearing some killer boots?  They looked similar to these  Ariat Women’s Tombstone Cowboy Boots – Turquoise/Brown Gator Print.

 

During rehearsals Adam had on a denim shirt…take your pick of these Denim Shirts to get the look.

Ok, the performances. Cee Lo’s team: I really don’t have much to say. Neither of them wowed me. The judges loved them but they both kind of bugged me. So I was indifferent to the winner. How about you? Did you have more passion for this battle than I did?

Blake’s team: I totally agree with his choice, but I loved the married duo too. For Jared, I picked out this Rock and Roll Cowboy by Panhandle Slim Men’s Short Sleeve Two Tone Fleur de Lis T-Shirt and these Dingo Men’s 12″ Eagle Harness Boots – Black. Pretty perfect for him don’t you think?

For Elenowen…Not sure how I feel about that name by the way. Are you on board with it? I’m guessing it is their names combined right? That’s cute…right? I thought she looked great, but I think that dress was screaming for boots. These Ariat Women’s Shada 10″ Cowboy Boots – Peanut Briddle would have taken that outfit into perfection. I thought his vest look was a good one, and I think he was wearing boots, but I couldn’t see them very well. This Miller Ranch Men’s Wool Button Down Plaid Vest – Brown would work perfectly to create that look for yourself.

Adam’s team: sorry to say it this way, but he killed it and she bugged. She seems extremely sweet and nice, but she just doesn’t seem like a rock star to me. But fashion wise, Angela did well. If you liked her studded dress, we have lots of options for you to recreate the look…

Last up, Christina’s team: I didn’t really agree with the verdict. I thought that Beverly kind of over sang. To me Justin did really well and it would have been fun to see what else he could have done. How he could have grown. Anyway, what do I know? I am not a singer by any means. I did love his comment to Blake when he said he looked like he worked in a bank..”I’m a redneck just like you.” Ha! As far as working in a bank, the dark washed denim he wore was perfect for wearing just about anywhere by anyone, banker to rock star. Levi’s ® Men’s 517 ® Boot Cut Jeans – Rigid Denim is a great jean to own.

Beverly was rocking a red tee with a gold foil design on it. A few options for a similar look, Rock and Roll Cowgirl Women’s Cowgirl Tank Top with Print and Rhinestones – Red and Petrol Women’s Short Sleeve Ornate Fleur de Lis Mineral T-Shirt – Red

So those are my thoughts on this week’s The Voice. What did you think? By the way, I am so sorry but I was unable to borrow any images from the NBC site today to do some side by side shots from the show with our products, I will try and fix it and be back to that next week.

CMT Disaster Relief Concert Recap

Did you guys watch the disaster relief concert on Thursday? I thought the stories were amazing. Just incredible what some people have gone through and are still going through. Of course, as each star took the stage to perform, I had an eye on their attire…what can I say, it’s my job.

Sara Evans looked flawless in jeggings and a blazer.

Gretchen Wilson and Alan Jackson both chose simple, classic looks. Jeans and a black shirt – its hard to mess with perfection.

Tim McGraw was handsome as usual with the perfect amount of scruffy facial hair and a black straw hat.

And yes, I listened to the music too. I thought Lady Antebellum’s Reggae Medly was amazing. They nailed it. I loved how her shirt looked like it had s torm on it. So fitting for the night.

Employee Picks – week 12

Up this week in our employee picks, Rachel.

Rachel chose this 100% cotton dress by Panhandle Slim. She said, ” Ilove the different colors on the dress, the form-fitted shape, and the layering on bottom make it stand out.” It has an all over blue floral and check print, two layers of ruffles at the bottom, adjustable shoulder straps and light shirring on the front bodice.

For her boots, Rachel chose Corral. She said ” I like the boots for their solid black color, and I love the cross cut-outs and rhinestone accents on them.”

This Western Charm necklace with black beading coordinates perfectly with the silver cross earrings. You can wear them together or separately. Rachel said, “the necklace w/ earrings are similar to the boots I chose and I think they go well with the dress. ”

To mix it up a bit, Rachel also picked out a pair of jeans. “You can pair these jeans with the dress as well to convert it into a top. I love to mix and match!” These skinny flare jeans work well under long tops due to their slim shape.

Overalls

Have you seen that overalls are popping up all over the fashion scene? Pinque wrote about it this week, and I have seen them in countless stores and on blogs. Who knew these were headed for a come back? They have always been a work wear staple, but now they are fashion too.

I think this pair by Dickies would be perfect cut off into shorts for all summer long. A bit baggy and big, but comfy and easy.

Agree or Disagree?

Did you guys watch The Voice last night? I am kind of on the fence about some of the decisions. I would have picked Tarralyn over Frenchie I think. And I know I would have picked Tyler over Patrick. I trust Blake and Reba…but I am not too sure about that decision. How about you? I think Patrick can sing a great Country tune…but I thought Tyler was interesting and had a great range of vocals. Would have been cool to see how Reba and Blake would have worked with him. Anyway, enough of my griping. I did agree with the other two picks, Vicci and Casey.

I did have a few fashion questions…like the puffy tail thing that Niki wore? I am not too sure about that. Patrick sounded great, but I think we could up his style vibe. How abouy this shirt for his next performance?

I think the lighter color would look great against the darker stage and background, and the detailing would look good on close ups. The contrast of the sleeves is some added interest to set the shirt apart and make it different. Rock and Roll Cowboy Men’s Long Sleeve Dip Dyed Snap Shirt with Embroidery – Dark Grey

Vicci needs to rock these Dingo boots for her next performance…I think they totally fit her style.

CMT Disaster Relief Concert

 Per CMT.com….”CMT will air an all-star concert special next Thursday (May 12) to raise money for people affected by the recent devastating storms, floods and tornadoes. The 90-minute special will air live from Nashville at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CMT and will be simulcast on CMT.com. All money raised will benefit the American Red Cross disaster relief effort.”

Hank Williams, Jr.,  Alabama, Ronnie Dunn, Sara Evans, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban…. a good cause, great music…I’ll tune in. Will you?
